HomeMy WebLinkAbout1970-09-14-CONCOM-min.pdf r TUW'l OF LEXINGTON , MASSACHUSETTS CONSFRVATION COMMISSION U MINUTES of Commission meeting September 14, 1970 The meeting was called to order at 7 55 p m , by the Chairman Mr Frown, with Mrs Frick , Dr Kessler , Messrs Nazerall. , Smith and Sussman present . Great Meadow Study Mrs Prick said that a meeting to report to the Board of Selectmen should be planned , possibly before the completion of the study. Two more copies of the interim report have been obtained. Dr Shrock was very im- pressed and offered to sit in on the final report meeting and give comment , if requested , Mrs. Frick reported. She will prepare an informational article for the Lexington Minute Man Dr Meyer reported to Mrs , crick and Dr Kas- sler that the Arlington Board of Selectmen have appointed John Ashton the third member of their Great Meadow Committee . Mr. Tobey and Dr Meyer have notified Camp , Dresser and McKee that the incomplete findings on surface and subsurface water supplies in the interim report do not fulfill contract require- ments for the study Excavation Abutting. West Farm Access Way on the Wilson Farm has left a 12-foot high cut exposing tree roots The Way , an old cart road is threatened by erosion A memo will be sent to Mr. McSweeney about this Mrs Frick and Mr Zaleski verified the ] ovation and severity of the cut by consulting maps and plans and walking the land The fact that the way is inaccessible from either end due to overgrowth and poison ivy was reported to Mr Mazerall and will be reported to Mr. O'Connell , with a copy to Mr. Zaleski . State Progress on OSA-60 and final/applications for 1962 Articles Partial Requisition for Grant cannot be made until at least 25% of the HUD contract value has been purchased There- fore the partial requisition planned for earlier has not been sent and awaits forms from Washington and, copies of cancelled checks for the Steeves and. Modoon purchases . The deadline for completion of OSA-60 has been extended to December 1 , with the strong probability that this will be the last extension to be granted. A memo is going to the Town Manager requesting purchases of remaining Hayden Woods parcels he pushed to completion by November 1 /. An accompany- ing sheet will list each document needed for final state and federal applications and town office which can provide it Applications on 1970 Articles Now that 1969 article applica- tions are nearing completion, it was recommended work begin as soon as possible on Federal and State applications. However, options have not yet been drawn up for the Soule , Frissore and Drummer Boy properties . These landowners have expressed their desire to sell to the Commission Mr. Smith has seen that the Wilson option, which expires September 15 , was extended six months. . .Mrs Frick and Messrs Brown and Mazerall and possibly Conservation Commission Minutes - 9/14/70 Page 2 Dr Kassler, agreed to walk the Hamilton land on Saturday, September 19 in the afternoon (with Mr Hamilton , if avail- able) They will designate areas over which a r ,nservatinn easement should he -mitred so Phat a plan can be drawn Mr Sussman commented that the Federal Government vould look with great favor upon purchase of an interest less than the fee A memo will be sent Nr- O'Connell to see if the above-listed options , plus the 'askin need.
