ADDITIONAL TOWN OFFICE BUILDING COMMITTBE
June 2 1957
A mooting of the additional Town Office Building Committee
was bold in the Engineero, Room, Town Office Buildings on Tuesday,
evening, Juno 25, 1957 at 8400 PM. Chairman Brooks, MOSSr0*
Hunter, Johnsen and Reed ware present. The 5.4cretary was also
present*
Th discussion bold was more or loos as follows:
Chairman: After all ouiidiscussion about the trick window for
th.9, police, it was omitted and Rycroft caught it*
This is a change over Which amounts to a reduction
Of 09000. It 10 a OUbOtitutlon of obscure wire
glass
in ilea of polishod. wire glees* There i a
charge for the viewing window which was just for-
gotten.
Johnsen: Was a viewing window in the plane and specifications?
Chairman: No.
Hunter; I suppooe it was up to us to catch it# We have no
coma back on Greeley.
Ohairman: Actually it amounts to a credit* There is an. extra.
oharg for a enemay mirror in the detention reoM of
$7.00# I think the deduction came about duo to the
fact the omission, was called, to Groelots attentIon.
I have a letter from Don Irwin caning our attention
to the fact that there aro no provisions in the piano
and specifications for screens* Greeley said this
building was net originally equipped with screens
and it is not the practice to furnish screens on
office buildings* I would go along with him on that.
4e did think the room down blow, where the kitchen
for the police i3, might need a screen. I do not
have the letter with me* lie estimated, for the An..
tire building, $451 but there is a credit for venetian •
blinds and shades that would leavea not credit of
something like 000 that could be ,applied to the
screens if we think we need them. The credit comas
on the venetian blindo from rooms in which be doo0
not think venetian Minds are necessary due to the
ex,posuro of the room.
Johnson* He originally figured on venetian blindsfor all the
rooms?
Chairman: In certain rooms: he is putttn Shades. The quebtion
is should we con porecna.
Rood: Find out what we _need, in the way of money to furnish
the building and leave the screens until last*
Hunter: The kitchen should have a screen and the Beard of
Health room where milk is being tooted should have.
a screen.
•
Reed: We We have in the budgzt a certain amount of money for
maintenance of this building. I dontt know when we
anticipated this would be in. operation. There is
money that we might be able to use for screens.
Would that be a maintenance item?
Johnson; Do you think there is anything better than that
glass?
Mr, Reed called Chief Rycroft.
Reed; He says this is all right and it is the best they
have around. The only thing, Greeley has one in
the women's prison for the matron's room and he did
not think that is necessary.
Johnson: It is in there now,
Reed: It was in the specifications, but there is no need
for it.
The Chairman presented a breakdown of the
shooting gallery.
Reed: Do we have a efinite figure of what we need? We
will have to have a breakdown before we go to the
Appropriation Committee ,
Chairman: How much of a breakdown do we need other than
itemizing the different change orders?
Reed: The shooting gallery has not been done yet?
Chairman: No. We have net approved a change order for that,
There is an item of $43 for the cold water faucet
' In the garage. There was no provision for it in the
plans.
Johnson: Has Greeley approved it? Shouldn't we send it back
and tell him we think the °est is too much,
Chairman: It is not done. We have to approve it first,
Reed: We could have someone do it after the building is
done, We better look into it.
We can't go ahead with the shooting gallery until
we get the volley.
Chairman: I4wolusive of screens this is what it looks like
we need. It looks as if the figure I gave would
be all right,
Reed: I think this is enough.
Chairman: Would something like this be enough to ask for the
money?
Reed; Yes. We did net have anything like this before.
Johnson: It is very damp in the shooting gallery.
Reed: ,We may have to put in a humidifier.
•
Johnson: One section of the wall was wet and there was a puddle
on the right side .
Reed: There is a question whether the dampness ever got out
of there.
-
.3.
Johnson: I was wondering if in the future it would be moos-
glary to have a humidifier*
Chairman: Do you think, from your conversation, if we sUbmit
this it will be all right?
Rood: That will be all right.
Chairman; I understand the water coolers in this building aro
on a rental basis* I, at least, and thought we
as4umed we would follow the same thing. I think
it is very uneconomical way and think it would be
better to purchase them outright* However, if that
is the policy and we are going to follow it, it is
all right with ire.
Reed: I thought we left it that we were going to rent them,
Hunter. That Is right.
Chairman: It is a very expensive Way of doing it.
Shall we approve the shooting gallery item?
Reed: We can't until we get the money. Dontt give it to
him or he will have it installed. We will have to
go along on his word,
Johnson: The difference comes on the 7 and we have had a 45' .
Chairman: The only alternative would be to have someone sons in
and do it.
Reed: How soon will they be out of there?
Chairman: They thought they would be done the first or the month, but
bey are running over two or three weeks.
Reed: We can ask the Appropriation Committee for Immediate
action. We will know in two weeks whether we can or
cant,
Chairman: X am going in and talk to Andy about this.
Reed: I think they should do the painting. That is part
of the building*
Chairman: I will check the specifications and find out what
the story is.
Reed: I should not think we would have to pay for the paint.
Ing. That should have been in the original.
The meeting adjourned at 065 P.M.
