• Grantee Update; Grantee/LCA Reception
§ Alix encouraged LCA members to contact their assigned grantees, if they
have not done so already.
§ Grantees are being asked to prepare materials for a slideshow, to be
presented at reception.
§ Grantees will be asked to speak for about two minutes about their
organizations and their supported projects.
§ Thursday, March 20 turned out to be unavailable for the grantee/LCA
reception. The Grantee/LCA Reception will be on Tuesday, March 18, 5-7
pm, at the Lexington Community Center Dining Room.
§ Various needs related to reception set-up (ranging from table cloths to
slide show equipment) were discussed.
§ Shalini asked that a proposed sequence of presentations be drawn up
and distributed.
§ There will be name tags for guests and LCA members to fill out and use.
§ There was a reminder that alcohol will not be served.
§ Other people to invite as guest include: Town Manager, Select Board
(including one new member), Town CFO, Laurie Bogdan,
representative(s) from Lexington Observer.
§ Should there be an exhibit table? Concensus: The grantees’ slide shows
may adequately meet that purpose.
• Native American Project Update: Status of the Seven Fire Prophesy Project
§ Shalini Kakar spoke about the impact of the Los Angeles fires on planning
the Seven Fire Prophesy Project, and suggested that moving the date to
Autumn 2025 may be necessary. Although there is not yet a detailed
proposal, Shalini will wait on one and will keep the LCA informed about
its progress. After she has a proposal, the LCA can then discuss, and
determine, how the project may fit the scope of LCA, and how it may be
supported.
• New Business
§ There was a discussion about a proposal to paint storm drains (similar to
the painting of electrical boxes). David asked whether the proposal was
not unlike a past proposal to paint crosswalks, an idea that some on the
LCA thought could be distracting to already distracted drivers. Some
wondered about the durability of any designs painted in such locations,
given the wear and tear the storm drains receive. Alix suggested that the
idea could be discussed in the future.
§ There was brief discussion of the desirability of having a mural painted on
the side wall of Michelson’s building or, because that particular alleyway
is narrow, in a different location.
