HomeMy WebLinkAbout1946-08-09-BOH-min.pdf ** ...:te iii ' Board of Health Meeting August 9, 1946 A meeting of the Board of Health was held in the Selectmen' s Room, Town Office Building on Thursday afternoon., August 9, 1946 at 4 00 p.m. Chairman Russell, Mr. McQuillan, Health Inspector Lamont and the Agent were present. Upon motion of Mr. McQuillan, seconded by Mr. Russell, it was voted to appoint Mr. John Lamont Health Inspector for a term expiring March 31, 190. Upon motion of Mr. McQuillan, seconded by Mr. Russell, it was voted to appoint Miss Hazel J. Murray Agent of the Board of Health for a term expiring March 31, 194(7. The Chairman read a letter from the Board of Selectmen relative to Howard M. Munroe and his sister who live at 344 Lowell Street. The selectmen have received information that these two individuals are living under most unsanitary conditions and may be physically and mentally unable to properly care for themselves. The Health Inspector was requested to make an investigation and report. The Chairman read a letter from the Board of Selectmen advising that Mr. Lindstrom, Building Inspector, had been instructed to inspect the property at 42 Ward Street and to advise the Selectmen whether or not the building should be demolished. The Health Inspector reported that Mr. Lindstrom has posted the building as unsafe for occupancy, The owner has made arrangements with a carpenter and plumber for repairs and is now waiting for materials. { Notice was received from the North Metropolitan Health Officers' and Agents' Conference relative to the September meeting. The Conference will receive invitations from any community wishing to have the next meeting. It was decided to contact Miss Welsh, Secretary, and to invite them to meet in Cary Building providing there would be no luncheon inasmuch as facilities for same are limited. The Health Inspector reported that Mr. Monsignors had not com- plied with the Board' s request of July 19", 1946 pertaining to the condition of the Slaughter House. Upon motion of Mr. McQuillan, seconded by Mr. Russell, it was voted to write Mr. Monsignore that unless the work is performed by him as outlined, and completed to the satisfaction of the Health Inspector by September 1, 1946, both the Slaughter House and Slaughter License will be revoked as of that date.
