Double Poles
Patrick updated the committee on the status of double poles in Lexington. There are
discrepancies between Bob Reid's pole survey and what NStar has in its database.
Consequently, Verizon will do a full inventory of the double poles in town, including noting
which is the next company that needs to move its wire. Peter suggested speaking with David
Cohen the mayor of Newton and former president of the MMA. Patrick also said he will call
Gayle Smiley who is Newton's town counsel.
Town Building Comnetitive Sunnis'
Roger and Ingrid have a list of town and school accounts going back 2 years showing the
account loads and demand base rates. Roger said there is an issue of whether some of the
outdoor accounts are being charged the right rate and that some schools are paying a large
premium for demand service. He thinks the schools could work with a supplier Peter said
that if we tell NStar we're going out to suppliers, they might be willing to work with the costs.
David asked Roger and Ingrid if they were focusing on the big accounts like 201 Bedford St.
and the pump station. Roger said that once they finish the spreadsheets, then they can sort by
load on rate classes. He thinks it is good to look at everything first for their own education,
especially if Lexington goes out to other suppliers. Patrick suggested talking to NStar's
customer service about how to save energy and costs. Roger said that there is a school
program like that and that the EUAHC could use a school subcommittee. Nick said that he is
on the PBC for the 2 new schools and will serve as a liaison. The schools are only in the
planning stages now David said he would bring together people from NStar and DPW
Operations to check for inefficiencies at 201 Bedford Street and the pump station. Roger said
he would help with 201 Bedford Street.
Aasregation Data
Patrick handed out a spreadsheet listing the Town of Lexington's electric accounts from June
2001 —May 2002.
Municinalization
Patrick started a municipal model for a Lexington light plant and thinks it might save every
household about $300 per year. Peter said we should pull together representatives from other
municipalities to work together
Next Stens
Peter said that the committee should prepare a report or presentation for the Selectmen by the
end of September
