Mason, Kathleen Lenihan Staff: Laura Bernheim, Susan Lusk, Cathie Ghorbani, Alissa Lauzon, Kate Leppanen Friends: Ethie Slate Foundation: Pam Fowler, Mary Ellen Ringo Public Comment - none Secretary Minutes – February 21, 2024 Full Board Meeting. Motion to approve, Barry. Second, Jay. Unanimous. Cary Library Foundation (Pam Fowler) ● The Foundation’s Take Flight GALA took place on April 6, 2024, attracting a crowd of over 300 and raising $60,000 toward the ChiRP project. The Foundation expects to make their $750,000 goal by the end of the fiscal year. ● The Foundation’s Legacy Society Tea was held on May 7 to honor Legacy Donors to the Foundation. ● Suzie Barry expressed appreciation for the Foundation and, in particular, their work for the Gala. Friends of Cary Library (Ethie Slate) ● The Friends are finishing up Fiscal Year 2024 with a bang. They raised close to $50,000 in memberships and book sales. The ongoing bookstore (including the children’s book sale area in the children’s room) raised about $2000 a month. ● There are currently about 300 members of the Friends, 70 of whom participate actively. ● Suzie Barry expressed appreciation for the work of the Friends. Library Administration Update (Laura Bernheim) ● Thank-you to all of the support shown by the three groups present at the meeting (Library Trustees, Foundation, and Friends) ● The Lower Level Renovation Project (ChiRP) appropriation was approved at the Annual Town Meeting on March 27, 2024 with 99.4% voting in favor. ● The Town Facilities Department was soliciting bids for the project, which were to be due in late June as of this meeting. ● The lower level of the library will close on July 1 to facilitate the moving of staff and collections to the upper level and offsite. ● Library programming will continue virtually and offsite. ● The library’s Bibliographic Services Department will be moving to Cary Hall. ● Suzie Barry was recognized for her service as Library Board Chair. Nominating Committee (Doug Lucente) ● The Nominating Committee met on April 30, 2024 and submitted the following five names: ○ Jill Hai – Chair (Selectboard) ○ Eileen Jay – Vice Chair (School Committee) ○ Suzie Barry (Selectboard) ○ Reverend Barbara Callaghan (Lexington Interfaith Clergy Association) ○ Rabbi Karen Thomashow (Lexington Interfaith Clergy Association) ● Motion to approve the slate, Lucente. Second, Lenihan. Unanimous. Adjournment – Motion to adjourn at 1:02 p.m. by Jill Hai. Second, Herzog. Unanimous.
