HomeMy WebLinkAbout1975-02-26-JSBCC-min.pdf 1 I A meeting of tArrCint Services Bicentennial Coordinating Committee was held"s.LHanscom Air Force Base on Wednesday,_ 26 February 1975 Colonel 3isuid -L JEnSe'n; r—pres ded The meeting was called to order at 8 p m Attending , in addition to Colonel Jensen, were Lincoln P Cole , Jr Lexington Robert Tarlin Lexington A Edward Siba Lexington Raymond Barnes Lexington James T Lima Lexington John Finigan Concord John Damon Concord Richard Loughlin Concord James F Hanley Concord Maurice L Dee Concord Bernard J Rushe Concord David Emerson Concord Thomas Worthley Concord Chandler Blackington Concord Robert Laible Concord Barry Mitchell Concord Ralph A Hamenway Concord Walter E Whalen Concord Salvatore C Silvio Concord William J Costello Concord Robert B Learmonth Concord Frank Lavine Medford James Huse Medford William F Higgins Medford Janet D'Entremont Medford Thomas Convery Medford Alex Kidaloski Congressional Aide Leo Talbot Fort Devens Capt Walter Corey Fort Devens Joseph Manthorne 94th ARCOM Major Peter Brainerd Fort Devens Lt Col William G Flaherty National Guard Lt Col Richard Jordan National Guard Claire Antill Bedford Lt Susan Merritt First Naval District Major James Price Hanscom AFB 1 James Viggiano Hanscom AFB Joseph Besso Hanscom AFB Capt Jay Swander Hanscom AFB Capt W H Lundquist Hanscom AFB Major Donald G Rhoads Hanscom AFB John F Coughlin Hanscom AFS Major Frcd Barrett Hanscom AFB Colonel Jensen introduced Frank Lavine , Chairman of Medford' s Bicentennial Committee Mr Lavine explained that he , and four members of his committee had been invited to the meeting so that they might meet their opposite numbers from Concord, Lexington and Bedford He introduced the four members of his committee and highlighted their positions on the Medford staff Colonel Jensen explained that he had sentaletter to Mr Finigan and Mr Tarlin suggesting that updated needs list be reviewed during this meeting for the towns of Concord and Lexing- ton respectively Mr Finigan referred to the various elements of military support required for Concord and, for each item, asked the cognizant service representative whether all was in order There were no logistics or policy problems noted Mr Finigan said that he would give the details for positioning of a loud speaker in Concord to Jim Viggiano The system would be required at 3 locations on April 12 , April 19 , and April 26 Mr Finigan thanked Colonel Jensen and the service represen- tatives for their constant support of Concord in its Bicentennial planning Lincoln Cole thanked the military members for their support of the Lexington bicentennial committee Robert Tarlin reviewed Lexington's needs list , and determined that there were no loose threads He asked Medford how he might help them with their planning Lieutenant Merritt said that First Naval District had asked for a 150 man contingent from the Naval Academy at Annapolis The Command was awaiting word on the availability of additional funds The Commander of the USS Concord has asked whether space would be available for his personnel Lt Merritt is working with Pease AFB and Ft Devens on housing, and with the Air Force Reserve on airlift Colonel Jensen introduced the members of his staff and suggested that coordination with each on matters pertaining to Military support of the communities could be accomplished after the meeting Raymond Barnes noted that the 26th Coast Guard Band might be able to participate in the parades on April 19th Thomas Convery invited all services to participate in the parade at Medford There being no further business , Colonel Jensen adjourned the meeting at 9 p m 2 1 The next meeting will be at the Hanscom Air Force Base OfficersClub on Wednesday, March 26 , 1975 SI + ' L 4fSE4JR C.
