report would be available at the next general meeting
John Damon noted that Security was progressing well There are
no insurmountable problems surfacing
Laurence Murray noted that members of the 357th Civil Affairs
Company (USARes) would meet with Concord officials on Saturday to start
down the road on review of Public Health and Welfare procedures The
unit will come in with substantial help
Major Rhoads suggested that Mr Blown look into the possibility of
attending planning sessions of the 357th for possible inclusion of Bedford

Robert Tarlin said that he would like to see the National
Guard include Red Cross volunteer assistance
To a question on housing, Colonel Jensen replied that the Air
Force would attempt to house Air Force Academy Cadets in private
homes, on the Base probably, and that the Drum and Bugle Corps would
be placed in dormitories The musical unit must be kept together to
facilitate rehearsal, roll calls, etc He said that housing of VIP 's
was not an immediate concern
Leo Talbot said that Colonel Harrington of Fort Devens had
confirmed all of the Army participation he had requested except the
Cadet contingent from West Point He will stay on top of this until a
firm reading is secured He noted that Fort Devens had 2 refrigerated vans on
inventory, one on loan to Pease AFB and the other being used by an Army unit
Mr Parks noted that one van would be sufficient for 19 April 1975,
and Mr Talbot was of the opinion that the unit now at Pease AFB would be
available
Lt McElwain noted that the Coast Guard was setting up an ad hoc
committee in Washington to review the Bicentennial needs He will keep
this Committee apprized of the ad hoc group's progress The Coast Guard
Academy contingent had not yet been committed positively, but the general
opinion is that it will be available
Ensign Marrett noted that with installation phase outs, Navy
participation was in a state of limbo At the moment nothing is firm,
but Public Affairs will monitor progress closely
Nathaniel Brown wondered how Bedford could coordinate medical
communications, especially with the urbane elements, so that advisories
could be received on traffic problems, emergency avenues, and the area
situation generally He was especially concerned about communications
with medical assistance teams Major Flaherty offered to meet with Mr
Brown to discuss inclusion of Bedford in the medical communications plan
/J Robert Tarlin said that the State was involved in pulli g together
airplanes, but their focus was a little different from that of<this Committee
Colonel Jensen noted that with proper frequencies Bedford could be tied
into the communications net. Mr Brown and Major Flaherty promised to
discuss this
Mr Tarlin threw out for consideration the concept of a Hanscom AFB,
Concord, Lexington, Bedford, Lincoln community 4th of July get together
Colonel Jensen noted that the problems would be tremendous, citing his
experience with logistics involved with the Base picnic The suggestion
was not pursued, it being appreciated that the task would be difficult to
pull off successfully

ground-breaking ceremonies for the Fiske Hill Visitors Center at
Minute Man National Historical Park on Friday at 2 p in The site
is at the junction of Route 2A (Marrett Road) and Mass Avenue
