A MAJOR EXHIBIT— "The Hand and the Eye,"Apri] —August,Museum of Our National Heritage,Lexington,Massachusetts. Between the stitches and tying were incocporated a few thimblefuls of gossip;and the memories, dreams and friendships of lonely rural life. The style and art of frontier life were personally interpreted by women using famiiiar themes: animal tracks, flying birds, log cabins, flower wreaths and Dresden plates. Simple geomet- ric forms of cloth were integrated into constellations of order, symmetry and harmony, forming the fabric of an embryonic nation. (Quoted fiom First Calendac.) . —Virginia Ross— LeXington.
