HomeMy WebLinkAbout1982-01-28-ASCC-min.pdf 'il Adams School Conversion Committee IMinutes of the Meeting of January 28, 1982 I Present Jim Crain, Lillian MacArthur, Anna Currin, Mary Lou Touart, Frank Feury, Larry Kernan, Hayg Boyadjian; also Bea Phear i The meeting was called to order at 8 00 pm, after the Committee members had an I opportunity to look at the floor plans which were not distributed. I Prior to a discussion of specifics on the proposals received, the Committee distributed a listing of developers that had submitted, with a brief summary of their proposal, to the public Frank commented that housing represents a traffic problem and external changes He feels that a school is the best use and that Waldorf is a know quantity Marl Lou said she was interested in congregate housing and they claimed traffic would not be so heavy She feels it is an appealing and needed use Roland Gubisch, from the audience, said that if the site were developed under current zoning, it could be seven to nine units Upon a motion duly made and seconded ,t was voted seven to zero, by roll call vote, to go _nto executive session for the purpose of considering the purchase, exchange, lease, -or–value of real propoerty and with no intention of resuming open session Upon motion duly made and seconded it was voted to adjourn at 10 15 pm Respectfully Submitted, —� Eetrice Phear Note Next Meeting Wednesday, February 3 at 7 45 pm in the Selectmens Meeting Room SII { Adams School Conversion Committee Minutes of the Executive Session, January 28, 1982 Mary Lou Touart expressed concerns about the Wexler Corporation, which had done the Clarke Junior High School She was a member of the permanent building committee and they had trouble with building leaks However she thinks there is a need for elderly congregate housing Bea reported that Laura Fisher had telephoned with her first choice being The Waldorf School for a ten year lease and her second being Community Development Partnership She emphasized that a longer lease for Waldorf would put it way down on the list, because she thinks the future of private elementary schools is shaky Of the condo proposals she prefers Fusco and Klein Bea also reported that the Building Inspector had reveiwed the proposals and found Fusco and Klein's most innovative He had also said that Sweeney and Wexler both had excellent reputations Lillian and Anna felt the Town had a need for elderly On the school proposals there was concern that The Schools for Children had a split day, which would increase traffic, and that there funding was dependent upon the state i 1 The Committee decided on three semi-finalists i The Waldorf School The Community Development Partnership The Fusco and Klein Partnership Questions were then developed for each of these, to be put in a letter that also invited them to come before the Committee on February 3, one half hour each, starting at 8 00 pm These letters were mailed to Committee members, and are incorporated into these minutes Respectfully Submitted, Beatrice Phear
