SELECTMEN' S MEETING
March 19, 1955
The Chairman called a special meeting of the Board
for Saturday, March 19, 1955 at 2:15 P.M. for the pur-
pose of interviewing applicants for the position of
Town Accountant. Chairman Bateman, Messrs. Reed, Gay,
Maloney and James were present.
A total of thirty-eight applications were received
and after study by the Board, the following individuals
were selectmed to be interviewed:
Edward A. Palmer, 36 Fuller Road, Lexington
Daniel J. Aragona, 241-A, Riverside Avenue, Medford
Dana Fletcher, Plain Road, Nabnassett
Lawrence P. Stone, 23 Ingleside Avenue , Winthrop
Frank P. Congdon, Jr. , 44 Pilgrim Road, Reading
Lester F. Boyce, 141 Linden Street, Brookline
Each member of the Board interviewed the six appli-
cants
individually. After a thorough study of the in-
formation submitted on the applications, it was agreed
that Mr. Palmer was the man best qualified for the posits
tion and it was, therefore, unanimously voted to appoint
Mr. Edward A. Palmer, 36 Fuller Road, Lexington as Town
Accountant for a three-year term effective April 1, 1955
at a salary of $4500 per year.
Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to
approve payment of $250 for Mr. Frank D. Walker' s ser-
Vices as Secretary to the Appropriation Committee inas-
much as he has completed the major portion of the work
necessary for the Committee.
