'eeley , 2 ichelrnan, Ri.fii n, Rooney, snot/ and Wells Also prcnwot were: Jeff uensky (repA'utienting Barbara Lundberg), Mrs. Mille Mru Earsy uwo high school girls, and Selectmen Ba_ley Ct?talido and Xenney, PBACB UBSOLU'PIrON Mr. Wella distributed copies of a resolution sponsored by the Executive Committee of the L ex_.n:'ton Ckzunc:i..L of Oburc,her, who voted on 1 October 1969 to pew;sant it to ixsee .Boa, i of >c 7_;:ctmen Entitled "Vietnam, ” the resolution p °vi.des for memorializing the President and Congress to bring an ea l,y end to the. war' Mr. Micnolman presented a daaft` statement from the Commission to the Selectmen recommending that they aet in accordance with the. request of the Council. of Churches. Drafted by the ad hoc committee appointed at the previous meeting of the Commlission.., it sets forth that committee's rational for Commission actionn After considerable debate concerning the legitimacy of Commission action under its charge„ it was VOTED that ec tio:n on uhe resolution „ion is apprppriate On this vote 6 members voted in the affirmatitje, 5 9n the negative, the chairman abstaining. Mr. Bernier transmitted the view of ,!r. Conroy that no action should be taken until members had consulted the governing bodie`3 of the groups they represent. It was generally agreed that this would be impractical, since the resolution will he placed before the Board on 6 ©ctobe, a and is intended to be part of the "Peace Moratorium" paned for 15 October. After further discussion, the following motion was unanimously Voted To the Board of Selectmen.
