HomeMy WebLinkAbout1973-03-08-YAC-min.pdf MINUTES YOUTH COMMISSION MARCHB, 1973 Present Peter Clarke, Paul Furdon, Ginny Comstock, Mrs David Hamblen, Mrs Polly Beaudry, Steve Politi , Joseph Burns, Dr Charles Ellicott, Jamie Newman, Leslie Klane, Mrs Kitty McGraw, Kathy Kenney, Debbie Kessler The meeting was called to order at 7 30 P M. in Room G- I5, Town Office Building, March 8, 1973 The booklet compiled by the Inventory Committee is presently at the printer Dr Ellicott, Chairman, feels he will be able to get the check down to the printer and bring back the booklets in time for distribution Hopefully they will be distributed on Saturday, March 17 with the annual town report Peter Clarke, Chairman of Problems of Youth, gave a progress report on his committee. The questionnaires are complete but there is currently a hang-up with the School Committee concerning distribution Peter will speak to Mr Jack Maguire again soon, hopefully distribution of the survey will follow Steve Politi introduced the idea of cutting the number of members on the Youth Commission The ideal number of members was left at approx- imately twenty Peter Clarke supported this recommendation with the rea- soning that " it wouldn't be to cut the number of people working with youth, but to strengthen the members and unite these that do come." The recommendation for the selection of high school members is to have the out going seniors and eighth grade students interview prospec- tive members They in turn would submit a recommendation list to the Selectmen for appointment The meeting adjourned at 8 45 P M.
