Meeting Minutes for Wednesday,October 23, 2024
Conducted in person and remotely on Zoom
LHRC MEMBERS PRESENT
Christina Lin, Chair (CL); Stephanie Hsu, Vice-Chair (SH); Courtney Apgar, Clerk (CA); Stephanie Ryan
(SR); Rachel Levy (RL); Colleen Dunbar, Lexington Police Department (CD)
Liaisons in attendance - Mark Sandeen, Select Board (MS); Hemali Shah, Town of Lexington, Chief
Equity Officer (HS); Juanica Buchanan, Town of Lexington, Human Services (JB); Dana Bickelman,
Town of Lexington, Human Services (DB)

1. Meeting open at 9:06 AM
2. The following minutes were approved by unanimous vote
a. Minutes for approval: October 9, 2024
3. Finalize Roundtable discussions
a. Ran through the timeline of the event.
b. CA, CL, and SR will arrive tonight at 5:45pm to set up. SH will arrive by 6pm.
c. CD will talk about services offered by LPD, DB by Human Services
d. For Friday event, will need to be at Community Center by 8am
e. CA has microphone, projector and screen, CD has all tableware and will bring food.
f. Members will help facilitate discussions at each table.
g. LF will do wrap up.
h. Would like to expand this discussion to the larger community in the future, as we
learn from these initial events.
4. Chair updates
a. LexPride is working with True Story Theater to put on an event about belonging in
the community and would like LHRC to cosponsor. Motion approved unanimously.
5. Committee member updates/announcements
a. Candlelight Vigil for Domestic Violence will be held on 10/30/24 at 6pm in Bemis
Hall in Lincoln, MA
b. Indigenous People’s Day event was a success! SR gave footage to Lex Media, which
will air it.
c. Turing Alliance will do a presentation on neurodiversity, and looking for speakers.
Event is 12/5, 6:30-9pm. There is a planning meeting next Thursday on zoom if
anyone is interested in joining.
d. LUAA has a lot coming up
i. Hosting a conversation on White Nationalism and Antisemitism at Follen
Church at 7-9pm on 10/28/24.

ii. On 11/17 from 12:30pm-2:30pm there will be a luncheon and conversation
about Jewish Identities and Antisemitism; this event requires registration.
iii. LUAA is also launching an arts initiative looking at the power of the arts as a
tool for connecting and educating about hatred and bigotry.
iv. There is also a musical, Parade, happening on 3/23 at 3pm in Boston, and
LUAA is getting tickets to it.

8. Next meeting is Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at 9AM and will be in person and on
zoom.
