The third meeting of the Patriot ' s Day uommittee was held
at the Town Office Building on March 29th, 1934, with all members
of the Committee in attendance, namely, Eugene H. Partridge,
Chairman, John E. Gilcreast, A. Randall Soderberg and James H.
Russell.
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Partridge at
8;10 P.M.
Letters were read by the Clerk which had been received from
James J. Carroll regarding the Lexington Band; from the U. S. Veterans '
hospital in Bedford regarding the Bedford Hospital Drum Corps;
from the Minute-Man Sportsman's Club stating that they would take
part in the parade ; and from the First Motor Corps Unit, State
Guard Veterans, stating that they would take part in the parade.
In the letter received from James J. Carroll, he stated that the
Lexington Band would be glad to participate in the parade and
would furnish music in the afternoon from two to four P.M. for
$75. There was some discussion regarding this price of 475. ,
some members of the uommittee feeling that it was rather high,
particularly where the Lexington Band is a local organization.
The matter was finally laid on the table until the next
meeting, during which time the Chairman was to contact Mr. Carroll.
The clerk advised the Committee that letters had been sent
to the Lexington Hunt ulub, the American Legion Auxiliary and
the Waltham High School Band in accordance with the instructions
of the Committee at the meeting on March 22nd.
At request of chairman Partridge, the Clerk made a verbal
report regarding the Boston meeting of the Patriot ' s Day uommittee
which was attended by chairman Partridge with Messrs. Soderberg
and Russell. The Clerk reported that about the only matter
brought up at the meeting was whether or not the towns surrounding
Boston would contribute to the printing of the Boston program, and
nothing definite was done on that matter.
Chairman Partridge advised the Committee that Mir. Northen had
agreed to prepare a sketch for the program to be put out by the
Town Committee.
kr. Soderberg reported tnat he had nothing definite to state
regarding the Scout organizations, but would have a report for the
next meeting.
The ulerk reported regarding the donations received on flags
A bill submitted by Elinor Moakley for clerical services of
$4. was approved.
The meeting adjourned at 9 15 P.M. to meet again on Thursday,
April 5th.
