Health Department Staff Attendees: Joanne Belanger, RN, Public Health Director, Alicia McCartin, Assistant Health Director Select Board Liaison: Mark Sandeen Documents:  Minutes Approval  Open Forum (2 minutes per person, state your name and address)  Year-end report on rDNA facilities and inspection program Rebecca Caruso, Bea Brunkhorst and Karen Soule  First Draft: Revision of Article XIII, Food Establishments  Tobacco Control Update  Health Staff Reports Environmental Health Community Health Directors Report  Correspondence/Information DEP approval of Lincoln Park Field Turf Replacement  New/Old Business Meeting Called to Order: The meeting began at 6:30 P.M. 2 Minutes Approval: Ms. Wolf-Fordham made a motion to accept the April 16,2024 minutes with the addition of grammatical corrections. Dr. Tung seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously. Ms. Wolf-Fordham made a motion to accept May 21,2024 minutes with corrections. Dr. Geller seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously. Open Forum (2 minutes per person, state your name and address) None The year-end report on rDNA facilities and inspection program - Rebecca Caruso, Bea Brunkhorst, and Karen Soule Ms. Caruso attended the Board of Health meeting to present an overview of the work that she and her team have completed throughout the year. Ms. Caruso explained the inspection process, the review of permit files, and the different laboratory inspections. Ms. Caruso also discussed a few examples of areas that needed correction found during inspections, including improvements to forming an IBC. Ms. Caruso answered and addressed any questions and concerns the Board had. First Draft: Revision of Article XIII, Food Establishments Ms. McCartin provided the Board with the first draft of the revision of Article XIII, Food Establishment regulations. Ms. McCartin informed the Board that most of the proposed updates were to have the local regulations in compliance with State and Federal food codes. McCartin suggested a more descriptive definition section for the certified food protection manager, food establishment the control services, and compliance, with local and state regulations. Ms. McCartin also discussed the pest control section suggesting a requirement of at least a minimum monthly inspection for each facility. Ms. McCartin addressed and answered the board's questions and concerns regarding the suggested updates. Tobacco Control Update Ms. Soto provided her monthly report. 3 Ms. Belanger informed the Board on Friday, June 12, 2024, that two local retailers have sold tobacco products to minors. Ms. Belanger informed the board each establishment was fined based on the State Tobacco regulations Ms. Soto explained to the Board how the Compliance inspection process works. Ms. Soto answered all the Board's questions and concerns about this situation. Health Staff Reports: Staff provided their monthly reports. Directors Report: Highlights: 1. MS. Belanger informed the Board of the new scheduled dates for Medical Waste Disposal event for 2025. 2. Ms. Belanger informed the Board about the maximum number of induvial that would be allowed to be there at any point in time. 3. Ms. Belanger gets a daily update on the census at the Armory. 4. Ms. Belanger updated the Board that she and Melissa Battite the Recreation Director, visited the athletic fields to collect temperature measurements. The synthetic fields will be closed and the natural grass fields will be open during the current extreme heat wave. Field temperature will be monitored throughout the summer. 5. Ms. Belanger informed the board that the Health Department has already started planning for the flu clinics for the Fall. 6. Ms. Belanger informed the Board that she attended the second workshop on the extreme Temperature Project in Somerville. 7. Ms. Belanger informed the Board she attended the third extreme temperature project today June 18th, 2024 Correspondence/Information - DEP approval of Lincoln Park Field Turf Replacement The Board was provided a Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) approval letter regarding the turf replacement at the Lincoln Park Field. DEP approval requires certain documents to be sent to the Board of Health. Ms. Belanger reported that she is receiving those documents, including a construction timeline. Ms. Belanger introduced Melissa Battite, Recreation Department Director, to the Board. Ms. Battite informed the Board that the project moved forward with the working group's recommendation and was funded. It was decided to go with the organic fill rather than the crumb rubber. It's called Brock fill, which is an organic fill. The project mobilized about 2 weeks ago. Adjournment Dr. Tung made a motion to adjourn at 8:06 p.m. 4 Ms. Wolf- Fordham seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously.
