Meeting minutes
June 11, 2024
Meeting was conducted via Zoom.
Present: Barbara Tarrh, Nancy Sofen, Tim Lee.
Called to order at 1:06 pm
1. Minutes of the 5.21.24 and 6.04.24 subcommittee meetings were approved
unanimously.
2. Reviewed revisions of tree protection regulations.
a. When choosing between keeping / protecting trees and removing them, there is a
preference to keep the tree
b. Tree protections should be in place before other trees are removed.
c. Root pruning early in project to create a construction corridor or laydown area.
d. Use wood chips (from removed trees is easy and cheap) to preserve soil
moisture and cushion roots- it makes a tremendous difference.
e. Tim presented edits of Figures 13, 14, 15 from the Tree Management Manual to
include soil protection and trunk protection. See attachments/ links for „p, , ,
ji..gures 13, 14, 15. Nancy will incorporate these changes into „p, , gl

f. All discussed items, plus others needed to address established procedures of
Tree Bylaw administration, are now contained in these a.�.a u:::..u.....l:.R;; „!..0 w u.']0 S..
Nancy to send to DPW for their comments.
g. Need to engage DPW, IT, Building Dept, Bylaw Enforcment Working Group. on
sequence of submissions and approvals. After that, we should send draft
regulations to Planning Board and staff, Conservation Commission and staff,
PBC, and Bylaw Enforcement Working Group for their comments, before
finalizing to bring to Select Board.
h. Other tree lists not specifically mentioned in bylaw also need to be updated. We
may want to add a medium tree list for front planting.
i. This group will suspend meetings until we hear back from DPW.
