Virtual Meeting MINUTES
OCTOBER 9, 2024
Members Present (12) members; no vacancy): Glen Bassett, co-chair; Linda Dixon, Yifang
Gong, Dave Grabel, Mary Hutton, Gresh Lattimore, Lorain Marquis, Sandy Podgorski, Sue Stering.
Absent: Cerise Jalelian, Sondra Lucente, co-chair Geetha Padaki. Quorum: 7 Full
Members.
Subcommittee Members Present (15 members; 5 vacancies): Sudha Balasuryan, Jamie Lee,
Pam Winters, Hong Xie. Absent: Steve Cole, Bonnie Karshbaum, Ashley Rooney, VSO Karen
Tyler, Perla Wall ing-Sotolong, Mirela Vaso, Huma Wasim.
7:04 PM: Meeting called to order by co-chair Glen.
7:08 PM: Minutes for September 25, 2024, approved, as amended.
Veterans Day Pre-Planning / Lorain, Linda, Dave, Jamie.
BREAKFAST(November 2) / Lorain
- Many attendance confirmations have been received. Link to roster page to be provided to all
members. "Emails for 2024"tab.
- Sandy needs help moving the AV/ IT equipment to K of C.
- Already confirmed: Photographer. VIPs include Michelle Ciccolo, State Rep; Ken Gordon,
Cindy Friedman, State Senate.
- Carnations: TCC won't purchase them. Only if Wilson Farms donates them.
- Mary: Scouts will pickup the trash under Bonnie and Cerise supervision.
- Lorain to see what supplies are available in our storage section. Is VSO Karen ordering any
supplies?
CEREMONY/ Linda
- Script is being reviewed by Jamie/ MC for the event and Linda. Jamie will commence his
remarks at 9:45am.
- Karen to offer 50th anniversary books about the Vietnam War only to Veterans of that war. How
do we identify them? At registation? Raising hands once seated?
- Jamie and Glen to coordinate the Missing Man table setup.
- Sue reports 15 posters from the Minuteman Tech art department have been laminated. Glen will
ask Town Manager is they may be sold to attendees. Who would get the proceeds?
Car Parade (November 11) /Dave
- Cerise will confirm Police Dept presence for the parade. Glen will contact the Fire Dept.
- Will the William Diamond Fife & Drum Corps play for free? The Minutemen and the Lex High
School Band will also be present. Linda will confirms LHS details.
- Keilty Hall at St Brigid will be available to participants for cider& donuts under Glen's
supervison.
Patriots' Day Parade (April 19, 2025, Saturday)/ Dave
- 26 applications have been received, among them the Concord Minutemen, the Blues Brothers,
and Miss Massachusetts. Other committee members are reaching out to possible participants.
- Suzie Barry, Select Board, insistent that a December 1 deadline for applicants be enforced. She
is also willing to see this year's TCC budget doubled over that of last year in view of the
importance of the 250th Celebration. In this context she is willing to pay the Middlesex
Voulunteers $5,000 for their participation.
- TCC will start the Calendar Page on November 11 at Town Hall. All members encouraged to
attend.
