LEXINGTON SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
LEXINGTON, MASSACHUSETTS
HARRY H. LOWRY SUPERINTENDENT t{'
April 21, 1924.
Board of Selectmen,
Lexington, Mass.
Gentlemen
ri
it
The Lexington Dental Clinic Committee acknowledge the receipt
of letters addressed to each member notifying them of their
reappointment for the ensuing year
The Committee desires to report that the annual meeting occurred
on the morning of Wednesday, April 16th, and that Dr. Louis F Mongeon
was elected dentist,
The question of the salary of the dentist was discussed at some
length because of the feeling that it is possible that compensation
for the work that Dr. Mongeon is doing has not been fair. The Work
of the clinic is in very good condition We are exceedingly fortunate
in having a man of the experience and ability of Dr. Mongeon It has
been felt that the time consumed in the school clinic has been so
great that the salary of $1100 might not be unfair The following
salaries are paid in nearby towns for clinical work - •
Arlington 5 days 9.00 - 12 00 $1200
Bedford 2 8 30 - 1 00 $12 per day
Belmont 5 9 00 - 12 00 $1200
Reading 1 9.00 - 4.00 $15 per day
Winchester 4 8 30 - 12 00 $1400
Lexington 3 8.30 - 12 00 $1000 ;',
(Reading contemplates an increase)
It will be seen from the above tabulation that Lexington is not
unreasonably low; however, the work that Dr Mongeon is doing is of
such high quality and so unselfishly rendered that the Committee is
contemplating increasing the salary in Lexington from $1000 to $1100
This matter' will be considered by the Committee again in September
with the possibility that an increase beginning September 1, 1924 will
be recommended
The work of the clerk will be continued at an expense of $7,50
per week
Respectfully submitted for the Committee.
