Susan Abrams, Bobak Moshiri, Joe Pato (Select Board liaison) Committee members absent Mike Tabaczynski Guests Daisy Liu 1 Votes September 19 meeting minutes approved unanimously by voice vote 2 Reports/Updates • Introduce new committee applicant, Daisy Liu - with the departure of Mal Crawford, Keith has invited Daisy to consider joining the GCC She attends this meeting to learn what we do • An additional committee spot has opened up, as Yifang Gong has accepted a fob in Connecticut and will no longer be able to participate Let Keith know if you have potential members He will reach out to the Town Office to see if they have any applications on file, and will also ask among the ACRO''.'Lexington Challenge certificate holders • Embroidered ACROSS patches offer - One of the ACROSS Lexington Challenge certificate holders has offered to donate 100 ACROSS Lexington Patches, to be designed We could use patches to replace the t-shirts as Challenge prizes • There are about 20 t-shirts remaining, mostly size Large They do not sell well, and even Challenge certificate achievers don't always want a shirt We will not re-order They were originally intended to be sold as a fundraiser, purchased with funds from the Rick Abrams Trust Perhaps we can give away the remainder at Discovery Day in May • Tabling at the Lexington Farmers 'Market does not seem worth it, as there are very few table visitors Most folks seem to come to the market just to purchase their goods, and then leave immediately 3 Ongoing Business • Review Line of March ACROSS route proposal - Suzie Barry & Mona Roy from the Lex 250 Committee liked the idea of using ACROSS style placards to mark the "line of march of the British Regulars through Lexington on April 19, 1775, and have proposed a Zoom meeting to discuss further This is not exactly in the GCC charge, but could be a nice way to collaborate with other Town committees Keith counted 44 sign locations, so we'd need 88-90 signs, and would mark the route from the Arlington town line to the Minute Man National Historical Park. If we go forward, we need to make sure the Historic Districts Commission and DPW approves of sign locations, and may or may not need to get approval from the Battle Road Byway committee Next step is to pursue a Zoom consultation with Suzie Barry and Mona Roy • Review of current route development projects - Proposed Route <S' Concord Avenue -Land Management Plan update - Bill Giezentanner presented the draft Land Management Plan on September 30 in an open Conservation Commission hearing. Comments and questions from abutters and Commissioners were taken. Bill will finalize the LMP and once the ConCom approves it, GCC can go forward with seeking approval for trail creation. ConCom will schedule a site visit to review the trail alignment including where it crosses the stone wall along Concord Avenue Once approval of the Land Management Plan is obtained from ConCom, it needs to be determined how much boundary surveying will need to be done before final approval by the ConCom for trail construction. It will probably be two years before the trail work will happen, as Engineering needs to put in the crosswalk before the trail can be established - Proposed Rte 22 "oIonu)11 Pierce Connector nlector 'Route I) - Mike being absent, there was little discussion of this route A site visit is TBD, and we will need to get permission from the Town of Arlington to place signs on the Arlington's Great Meadows portion of the route • Destination Sign Project update—Deferred for the time being while the Line of March project is pursued • Brochure Reprinting Options—review recap previously distributed by e-mail - There are about 2 cases of brochures left Eileen will take some to the Community Center Others will take over Yifang's routes for filling boxes When we reprint for next spring, we agreed to only add the new routes, and not update any other information at this time, though we will need a new cover photo We will plan/consider a full update and redesign when the Concord Ave trail is ready for publication. Peggy noted that it would be nice to denote bike routes 4 New Business • Facebook Page—Needs refreshing - the AC'ROS'S Lexington facebook page was created by a friend of Rick's many years ago and has not been updated in a few years Daisy, if she agrees to join GCC, will take on updating the page, and perhaps create an Instagram presence as well. We will be sure to adhere to the Town Social Media policy in pursuing this project 5 Adjourned at 5 20pm by unanimous voice vote Next Meeting Nov 14, 2024 - Parker Room Future Meeting Dates 2024 -Dec 12 2025 - Jan 9, Feb 13, Mar 13, Apr 10, May 8, Jun12 Future Project List • Waterstone Connector • Memorial Bench Project Respectfully submitted, Alexandra Dohan, 10/13/2024
