Town Office Building, Tuesday evening, September 2, 1941 at
8 00 P M Chairman Luther R Putney, Messrs Alan G Adams ,
Lee E Tarbox, Robert Whitney, Allen Rucker , Richard Cromwell,
Manfred Warren, Robert Mayo, Walter Sands, Melville Webb and
Malcolm Clifford were present
Mr Putney reported that he had received a letter from Mr.
George C Sheldon tendering his resignation as a member of the
Executive Committee due to the fact that in the Fall his duties
in connection with the Appropriation Committee are so increased
that he felt he could not continue to give his time to this
Committee.
Mr Walter Sands moved that Mr. Sheldon' s resignation be
accepted with regret Mr Robert Whitney seconded the motion,
and it was so voted.
Mr. Putney suggested that inasmuch as this resignation
left the committee with the number of members in unison with
the other committees , that no appointment for replacement be
made Mr Sands voiced his approval and it was the feeling
of the Committee that no appointment should be made.
Mr Putney said that a woman had called him and informed

the Defence School. Mr Sands suggested that our local Defense
School would be ample and that the Town should not be asked to
pay for any admittance fees to the Boston Defense School

100 police billies for the Auxiliary Police

be revoked because of the above mentioned reasons.
