MEETING, MARCH 6, 1928.
A meeting of the New Tow} Office Building Committee was held
at the Selectmen' s Office on March 6, 1928 Messrs Burnham,
Custance, Ballard, Chamberlain, Robertson, Madctison, Nary, and
Hooper were present Mr Willard P Brown, and William Roger Greeley,
architects, were also pr sent
Mr Waiter Rowse and iiir. Richard Rowse came before the Board
and displayed samples of Stedman Rubber flooring in the dark and
light shades.
A representative of the Goodyear Rubber Company came before the
Board and presented samples of rubber flooring put out by the Goodyear
Company The Ardhitects stated that there would be an allowance for
the linoleum which was originally planned Mr Greeley recommended
to the Committee the rubber flooring and felt that it was well worth-
the money He made the sugge ti ,n that if the members of theCem-
mittee desired to go to the Stedman Companyts office at 4 Park Street,
Boston, they would be able to pick the designs in there, inasmuch aa
it wa, voted that the Committee have the dark Stedman flooring laid •
instead of the linoleum, provided the allowance for linoleum is
sati_ factory to the Chai_ man of the Committee, the Stedman flooring
to be laid only in the Selectmen' s room and waiting room
Lauestion of hardware was taken up again Bids were received
from the Le, Hardware and Supply Co quoting on Rue ell & Irwin
hardware under date of January 25, 1928 for 098 63, and under date
of February 21, 1928 for 0998 63 Herbert M Lawrence quoted on
Lockwood hardware under date of January 23, 1928 for $1025 and under
date of Febru, .ryfl8, 1928 for $1098 J B Hunter quoted on Yale hardware
under d to of December 16, 1927 for $1222. and under date of Fan. 30,
1928 for $892
After considerable discussion it waq voted to award the bid to
J B Hunter for Yale hardware for the sum of $1222
Bids were received for window shades from the following Hoyt
Company 0173 00, Holbrook Company 1572 00, .and the Crystal Shade Co
1190 lar Greeley recommended the simple shade for the building, and
felt that it would be more economical as they are economical to replace
It was therefor voted to accept the bid of the Hoyt Company at 4173 00
against the allowance of ,x175 00
Estimu to of $276 On eras received from Chamberlin Metal Vreather
Stripping Company for we thsr stripping 53 double hung windows and 3
single doors . The Committee felt that it would be economical to put
weather stripping on the building, ind voted to accept the bid of 1275
Mr Ballard callecyattention to the fact th t the voting r^ils
for voting must be erected near the walls and the Architects were re-
quested to work out some scheme Thereby the rails ccsld be set up in the
new hall without ruining the walls with the nils
Mr. Brown suggested that the bell for the Sprinkler System tich
has appeared to many to be unsightly on the outside of the Town Office
Building might possibly be put in the Police Station insteal of on the
outsi e of the building, and he felt it 'cull_ he better there, inasmuch
as nen it ring it could be heard by someono on luty in the Police
station while oc the Jutside of the building, it might not be heard
for some time The Comri_ittee felt that if this coin' be arranged,
it would be all right o do so
