HomeMy WebLinkAbout1989-12-14-CAC-min.pdf LEXINGTON: CABLE TV AND COMMUNICATIONS ADVISORY COMMITTEE Lexington, Massachusetts ( MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE, 14 DECEMBER 1989 The meeting was called to order at 74 P M Those present were Julian Bussgang, Frank DiGiammarino, Leo McSweeney, Stella Liu, Theodore Mairson, William Spencer, Sidney Whiting and Phyllis Wilner Bussgang suggested that the letter from Ferris required an answer After some discussion it was the spirit of the meeting that the Chairman should write a letter to Ferris and the Selectmen should write a letter supporting the Committee s action Both letters should be friendly It was also agreed that we should request a demonstration of the capability for " communication between the I 'Net and the residential system " It was moved, seconded and voted that Liu should take the initiative for this demonstration Bussgang also raised questions about the performance bond, hut no conclusions were drawn The matter of installation of an additional institutional drop at School Headquarters was discussed Cablevision has set a price ( on doing this Mairson suggested that it is really covered by the license (see Final License, Section 21A - Institutional Trunk ) Additional connections along the constructed institutional system will be available as the need arises There was some consideration of the services which might be required of Peter Epstein The conclusion was that he need not be present at any of the scheduled meetings, but that he should be alerted to a probable need for his services around 4 January There was much discussion of how we should proceed The consensus was that^ e: cept for the letters and the demonstration discussed above, there would be no attempt to deal directly with Cablevision The period from now until after the hearing will be a time for fact gathering and evaluation After the hearing a conci.oe report will be prepared for the Selectmen, describing what has happened and summarizing any issues and actions which may require attention The ne) t meeting will be held at 4 00 PM on 4 January 19p0 in Room J8 at the Le: ington High School The meeting adjourned at 5 15 PM Respectfully submitted, ( Theodore Mairson, Secretary
