Minutes of the CATV Committee Meeting of 31201'77
Attending members: David Kanter,Bob Warshuwcr,David Becker David I)uczkowski,Jack
Cunha, Steve Ellis,Jane Gharibian,Chair. Cablevision reptwcntativc. Peter Atherton.
A change was made in the Minutes of 2/20/97' item 4 amended as follows. 'Cablevision was
asked to review Lexington's rebate calculations leased on the FCC ruling in response to the
complaint from the Town of Hudson.'
Under Cablevision report by Peter Atherton: 'crediting has impacted business was stricken
from the Minutes.
The Minutes of 2/20/97 were approved as amended.
The license errata document is in the hands of Peter Epstein at last repast.The c'unent status
and when the document will be sent to Cablevision will be clarified by the nest meeting.
Requests for hook-ups to the I-net by 1)Museum of Our National I tentage-formal request to
the Board of Selectmen and 2)1 lancock Church informal request to Committee member.
Further request from the Museum for Peg access/Local Origination capability resulted in a
recommendation on the Museum request and a Resolution to be presented to the Selectmen by
Chair Gharibian, assisted by Steve Ellis. This Resalutiexl will be reviewed by Norman Cohen,
Town Counsel, for his approval before being presented to the Selectmen. The text of the
Resolution, passed unanimously is: We recommend to the Board of Selectmen that
except for authorized local PEG access/Local Origination, I-net capability is to
be restricted to Town entities and other Governmental activities approved by
the Town. Local PEG access/Local Origination shall be allocated after Town
needs are met.
The rwxunmendalion on the Museum of Our National Heritage requast(and on rim Hancock
Church request) will be made to the Board as soon as it has been sees and approved by
Norman Cohen,Town Counsel. The recommendation is:
"Yes"on item 2(a) 'video PEG access/Local Origination reception& transmission
capability' at their own cost
but
"No" on item 2(b) Internet access.
The Committee defined Town of Lexington' and Governmental as it appc:u;s in the license
agreement regwding I-net Internet access as: town buildings and agencies,local public school
buildings,Cary Library and branches. Armory (governmental), Minute Man Tech.
Peter Atherton,Cablevision, was asked to provide the Committee with un us built' map of the
system for the next meeting.
OVS (open video systems)discussion wab tabled for the next meeting.
Peter Atherton reported for Cablevison:
1)A free lance person fur taping a meeting costs$50.
2)Final rate increase filed. Expected that an average estimate will be 7%(package prices were
not offset)

4)Final information on storm credits has been delayed by illness of person responsible; will
provide at next meeting
5) Committee received letter from David Green in response to Chair Gharibian's letter on the
proposed schedule for new channel mapping. Green's letter was not well-received by the
Committee, however it does contain a date certain for the mapping by July 1 1997
6) Redesign of Massachusetts networks will be done within the next 3 years. A more specific
time range will be available by the end of the 4th ytr this year(Dec. 1997)
7)The purchase of Madison Square Garden by Cablevision is being financed, funded,
separately from Cablevision and Cable Systems.
8) David Kanter reported that Drummer Boy is still waiting to hear from Cablevision on the
work schedule for their project. Atherton will expedite a reply
9)Steve Casco,formerly Program Director at Cablevision Braintree, is the new Program
Director for the Lexington studio,replacing Ed Harbert.
No further business was brought forward. The next meeting date was set for April 24.
Meeting was adjourned at 7:35p.
