Peter Epstein attended with the Negotiation Team for discussion of how to continue with the negotiations and whether to ask for one last extension of the negotiation period from the Board of Selectmen. Attached is the negotiation team position at the beginning of the meeting. Discussion of these positions proceeded. A decision was made to advise the Selectmen that a 2 week extension, up to the date of their last meeting before expiration of the license,August 26t11, would allow the Committee and the team to complete negotiations on the majority of the outstanding issues with the hope, although a slim one,of reaching compromise on the two major issues outstanding. 1)Level playing field language and 2)wiring of commercial areas in the Town. If these two issues remain unresolved the Committee agreed that 1) we will recommend not signing the license,or 2)we will present our version of the license to the Selectmen with a recommendation to sign giving Cablevision the option of signing or denying. It was agreed that Peter Epstein wilt advise Norman Cohen,Town Counsel, of the Implications of these actions: possible litigation for the Town. Epstein will continue with negotiations, keeping the team advised of progress. Our next meeting will be at 6:45 on August 26, 1996 where a vote will be taken on recommendation of the final license W the Selectmen. Meeting adjourned.
