A. Welcome
B. Approval of Minutes: May 16, 2024
C. Updates/Discussion
a. The Site Council is a sounding board for review of the School Innovation Plan.
It is on our website.
b. School Innovation Plan
i. Standards Based Grading.
1 . Platform is Teacherease with the open gradebook. We will get
more into the philosophy of SBG this year, such as how instruction
is going, and preparation for high school.
ii. Renaissance Star Assessment.
1 . Ways to target support for our students in subgroups, for
academic and social/emotional. This month we will be
administering for literacy and math and then using that data to
meet the district goal "redefining success".
2. Parent asked about how they will get the data.
a. Communication will be going out to parents soon. We hope
to be able to share the data within a week or so once we
have a plan on what we plan to do with the data.
iii. Social/Emotional support.
1 . Restorative Justice training this year. There is a meeting with
Suffolk University set up for this week. Goal to have all staff
trained in tier one within the next two or three years. Restorative
practices are important rather than strictly giving behavior
consequences as a way to help students change behavior.
SASSSY (safe and supportive school) will be instrumental in
helping staff and students set up the welcoming and supportive
environment throughout the school.
iv. Diamond Ambassadors Program
1 . Our students who demonstrate our DRUM values. Started when
we were welcoming the homeless students into school and using
student ambassadors to help them.
2. Combines all of our student groups who have been helpful, like
Student Council, Seventh Grade Ambassadors, and those
students who model the DRUM acronym.
a. Trainings and t-shirts will be planned.
3. Staff asked about how this got started:
a. We are trying to celebrate the students we have who are
exemplifying our DRUM values. These students will grow in
belief and confidence in their success as students going
forward. A way to celebrate our positive students.
4. Parent commented on the way they use this program at their
school.
a. Expanding the program with several groups in mind. We
hope to connect families, as well.
i. Ultimate goal is to have hundreds of students in this
role in many different capacities.
v. Parent asked how are we capturing these goals and what we are doing
to address these items.
1 . The School Innovation Plan is the skeleton for our documentation
with data and goals.
vi. Next meeting we will review the Innovation Plan specifically on the goals
and how members of this group may be able to help out.
vii. Parent questioned the traffic situation for Back to School Night.
1 . We are aware of this problem and may need to have police next
year to help. However, it will greatly limit the parking. We may try
to use Fiske parking lot and have shuttles or have staff park there
to leave our parking for parents.
viii. Parent commented on the process for bringing in checks for the ski trip.
1 . Change this year, but now we know what will work better next
year.
ix. Parent questioned how we as a group are in communication.
1 . Use our Site Council email list or directly to Marlon.
