Minutes for January 10th Meeting I g 9 Co
The meeting was called to order at 5.40 p.m. in Room G-15 by Jane Gharibian, Chair with
Julie Longcope acting as secretary Other members present were David Buczkowski, Peggy
Bateson, Robert Warshawer, Julian Busgang, David Kanter, Bill Lucas, Martha Stanton, and
Stephen Ellis. Caleb Warner from the negotiating team was also present.
It was agreed to accept the minutes from the December 14, 1995 meeting.
David Buczkowski will be the complaint contact for March, and Jack Cunha has the
assignment for the month of February The procedure for complaints is to document any
complaints and submit the information to Jane Gharibian to add to the complaint file. The
person to contact at A-R Cable Services is Cindy Cavooto at 1-800-439-3399 ext. 444
Caleb Warner introduced discussion concerning the CATV License Renewal. Much
discussion ensued concerning the wording of "level playing field", customer service
satisfaction, and "liquidated damages" In addition, services to the town eg. the I-Net
maintenance, was of concern.
Bill Lucas moved that the committee approve of the negotiating team's basic position of
accepting its "level playing field" language in exchange for A-R Cable Services' acceptance of
provisions for liquidated damages. The motions was seconded and unanimously passed.
Bill Lucas moved that the committee recommend to the selectmen to offer A-R Cable
Services a negotiation period extension until 1/22/96. Failing an agreement in negotiations
by that date, the committee would recommend that the selectmen issue a preliminary denial
of license renewal. The motion was seconded and unanimously passed.
The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, February 15th at 5.30 p.m. in room G-15
Bill Lucas will be out of town for the next several months on Thursday evening, and the
committee will take this information under advisement since A-R Cable Services can only
attend meetings on Thursdays.
David Kanter announced that there has been no progress concerning the Condominium Group
and Drummer Boy Green.
Julian Busgang announced that the town has been informed that subscriber rates are going up
by the inflation factor This amounts to 2.96% for the Basic Rate, for instance. There is a
list of the various rates.
All other items on the agenda will be postponed until the next meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
