CATV&Communications Advisory Committee meeting minutes 5/18/2000
Meeting called to order 5:50 PM
Present:Jane Gharibian(Ch),David Becker,Robert Warshawer,Ed Vale,David
Kanter,Jennifer Taub,Steve Ellis,Mike Greene,David Buczkowski,Jeanne
Krieger,&Rob Travers(Cablevision).
Minutes of 4/27/99 meeting were corrected&approved with the addition of
adjournment time.
Warshawer volunteered to be secy for this meeting.
D.Kanter reported on RCNfs recent customer service glitches.They mostly s
revolved around coordination between RCN and Bell Atlantic and the timing of
work orders within both organizations. RCN is attempting to minimize future
problems.The CAC is to provide a list of events that RCN is expected to
cover.A future listing must also be provided with the venues for the
expected coverage.David Becker reminded the CAC that RCN's first payment may
be coming up.David K.will request that RCN attend the next CAC meeting.
Jeanne Kreiger and Jennifer Taub reported that the Selectmen Committee to
study the impact of cell facilities on real estate values has been
constituted and is starting its effort.There was a discussion on timing of
the study results with suggestions to Jenne and Jennifer
Jane G.will draft a recruitment letter for the Minuteman to solicit a
replacement for Ted Mairson.
Nothing new reported on the Access Corp activity The promo tape is still in
process.
No news from the negotiating committee.David K.recommends we have both a
Plan A(full scale license)and a Plan B (shun replacement license or
license extension)in hand in order to get through the steps next Sept.
Jennifer will do some digging to get sonic of the recent negotiated Media One
licenses for us to peruse.A brief report on the informal meeting with ATT's
VP of Government affairs.The session was light on specifics but did ptuvidc
an introduction to ATT ATT will provide all three services(Cable,Telephony
&Internet).
D,Kanter updated on Tower applications.Engineering turned down the proposed
underground installation on Wood Street this is to be continued.NEXTEL is
considering alby righti antenna installation at Countryside.He also alerted
us to an upcoming incighborhoo d ISM description.

Steve reports that the INetfs biggest problem is with Boston Edisunts
electrical problems around Lexington.He is working with RCN to define&
facilitate INET/PEC Access. Street cut issues are critical to completing the
INET
Rob Travers reported that Cablevision and RCN are still trying to resolve
'joint ttenchingi.A new head end will be up and cut over in the Call.
Quick comments: David K.attended a rate hearing nothing exciting to
report.Dave Becker announced that Bell Atlantic is selling wireless cable
access,and their DSL is still a mystery
