We are committed to providing active and passive leisure opportunities that are education, fun and life -enriching. The Department promotes participation by all Lexington residents in safe, accessible and well-maintained facilities. Recreation Division: Programs & Services • Our youth wrestling clinic began on Monday, November27th. Led by Jon Quint, there are 35 children ingrades K-8 participating in this program. • New programs this winter i ncl ude a youth volleyball clinic, futsal, and adult basketball training. • Dueto high demand,an additional session of Adult Vol leyba 11 has been added to the winterseason. The program will be offered on Friday eve ningsfrom 7:00-9:OOpm at the Esta brook School gym. • The in -town basketball leagueseason is underway and the youth basketball clinicswill beginon Saturday, January 6 t • The ski/snow board programs atNashobaValley will begin the first week inJanuary and currently, there are 332 people registered forthese programs. Summer2018 Staff Recruitment The application deadline for returningstaff is Friday, January 5 th and the application deadline for new applicants is Thursday, March 1St Facilities Fields, Parks, & Playgrounds • The application deadline forspringfield permits is Friday, January 5th Golf • Winter work will be evaluated this week and plans for the off season tree work. The RFP for the Management of the course which is valid through December 2018, wi I I go outto bid in the late spring. Community Center: Programs & Services • New winter adult programs — Indoor Cycling, Vinyasa Flow Yoga & Drop In Painting • Family Feud had 5 families attend and everyone had a blast • Successful half day trips (Boda Borg had 76 kids between Clarke and Diamond) (Launch Trampoline had 58 between the two schools). There is already a wait listfor the Jan 11th trip to Nashoba Tubing with 15+ on each waitlist. • December break Martial Arts and Chess will be running. • New Kensington Enrichment programs next session: focus on etiquette, farm to table, and home economics for ages 4-11. • Calm Body Calm Mind, Yoga & Mindful Meditation Class has 5 enrolled with a max of 8. • The Field & Garden Club has agreed to maintain the perennial garden beds for the next year • A bench was donated to the Community Center by Meg Himmel Recreation & Community Programs and Human Services Departments celebrate National Ugly Sweater Day 2017!
