SELECTMEN'S MEETING
March 23, 1942
A special meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held
in the Selectmen's Room, Town Office Building on Monday,
March 23, 1942 at 7:30 P.M. Chairman Giroux, Messrs.
Rowse, Locke, and Sarano were present. The Clerk was
also present.
The following members of the Appropriation Committee
were present: Lewis L. Hoyt, Raymond A. Bond, George M.
Hynes, Richard W. Maynard, Robert J. Fawcett, and Ronald
D. Brown.
The Chairman presented a bill of $615.39 for print-
ing the Town Report. An additional charge of $50.00
was included and he said that this was due largely to
the fact that when the contract was agreed upon, it was
based on last year's books and in the Accountant's book
then there were two rows of figures and this year the
Accountant had three rows to a page. He thought the bill
was a fair one. Both Boards approved of it.

The Chairman said that both Boards had approved the
sum. of $300.00 for the salary of the Milk Inspector. •
Last year it was voted to pay him an annual salary of
Milk 0400.00 for this position and only $300.00 was appro
Insp. priated because the arrangement did not go into effect
until April lst. Thlb year $400.00 rather than $300.00
should be appropriated. It.was decided to appropriate
the $400.00,
The Chairman said that the sum of $750.00 had been
approved for Forest Fires and the State.Forest Warden
Forest recommended that an additional 6100.00 be appropriated
Fires for Forest Fire Patrol. It was decided to change this
appropriation from 0750.00 to $B50.00.

$12,500.00 for Snow Removal,
The Chairman read a letter from Mr. Wrightington
Sewer relative to transferring funds from the W.P.A. Sewer
Unempl. Account for a sewer project to be operated with wel-
Relief fare recipients. Mr. Wrightington said that this
Project could be done. Both Boards approved transferring
$10,000.00 from the W.P.A. Sewer Account for a Sewer
Unemployment Relief Project.

The Chairman told the Board that a very bad condition
existed at the junction of Downing Road and Outlook Drive
where water collected so badly that the roads were
impassable. He suggested that $1500.00 be added to the Reserve
Reserve Fund to remedy the situation. Fund
It was finally decided to appropriate. $12,000.00
for the Reserve Fund.,
The Chairman said that the Citizens? Committee had
requested the use of Cary Hall on Tuesday, March 24, 1942
for a rehearsal.
Mr. Sarano moved that the -use of the hall be granted.
Mr. Locke seconded the motion, and it was so voted.
The meeting adjourned at 7:50 P.M. when the members
of the two Boards went to Cary Hall for the Annual Town
Meeting.
