October 16, 1940
A special meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held
in the Selectmen's Room at 8:40 P. M. Chairman Giroux
and Messrs. Potter, Rowse, Locke, and Sarano were present.
The meeting was held at the request of a group of
citizens who wished to use the Battle Green for the
purpose of a National broadcast on the 23rd of October
at 3:00 P.M., the speaker to stress the American tradi-
tion of no third term for a President of the United States.
Mr. Alan Adams spoke for the Committee. Mr. Potter moved
that the Citizen's Committee be allowed the use of the
Battle Green as requested. Mr. Locke seconded the motion,
and it was so voted.
The meeting adjourned at 8:50 P. M-
