July 11, 1940.
A special meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held
in the Selectmen's Room, Town Office Building, at 7:30 P.M.
Chailn.an Giroux, and Messrs, Sarano, Locke, and Rowse were
present. The Clerk was also present.

Gentlemen:
The Board of Survey of Lexington have examined the Plan
of Land in Lexington, Mass. Belonging to Lexington Ridge, Inc.,
dated June 24, 1940, John F. Rand, Civil Eng'r., Melrose,
4nd would now be willing to endorse on it their approval upon
receipt of the agreement and bond with respect thereto required

Mr. Lloyd C. Morang, and Mr. Ralph E. Harris, represent-
ing the Lexington Ridge, Inc., and Mr. Paxton appeared be-
fore the Board.. They presented an agreement and bond with
respect to the Plan of Land in Lexington, belonging to
Lexington Ridge, Inc., and date June 24, 1940, as required
by Article V, section 2 (a) of the Building By -lay of Lex-
ington. They said that because of the construction require-
ments of said By-law, they had decided at this time to
submit for approval a plan of only one section of the total
development. Mr. Paxton said that if the entire develop-
ment had been accepted, it would have been necessary to
construct all the streets, and install all the drainage
before putting in any houses. He said that this agreement
was exactly the same as Mr. Wrightington drew up.
He said that Messrs. Raymond, Cosgrove, Wrightington and
himself had seen the agreement and approved of it.

Mr. Rowse moved that the Board of Survey approve the
"Plan of Land in Lexington, Mass. belonging to Lexington
Ridge, Inc., dated May 16, 1940, John F. Rand, Civil Eng'r.
Melrose". Mr. Locke seconded the motion and it was
so voted.
Upon motion of Mr. Rowse, seconded by Mr. Sarano, it
was voted to authorize the Clerk to send the following
letter to the F.H.A.

by Article V, section 2(a) of the Building By-law of Lex-
ington, if Lexington Ridge, Inc. now requested that approval.
Lexington Ridge, Inc., however, because of the construction
requirements of the said By-law, has decided at this time
to submit to us for our approval a plan of only one section
of the total development contemplated in the plan above
referred to, and we are, therefore, at this time, on
receipt of the said bond and agreement, endorsing the.app-
roval of the Board of Survey only upon the Plan of Land
in Lexington, Mass., belonging to Lexington;,Ridge, Inc.,
date May 16, 1940, John F. Rand, Civil Engineer, Melrose.

Mr. Rowse asked Mr. Morang if he was willing to grant
the town a permanent easement through this land to be used
for a sanitary sewer, according to Metcalf & Eddy's plans
that the town have a system of sewerage in this particular
section, and he replied that he would be willing to do so.
Mr. Paxton said that he would draw up the agreements nec-
essary to take care of this.
The board received a letter from ketcalf & Eddy re-
questing approval of an Extension of Time in connection
with Contract B, Vine Brook,Drain, and another letter re-
questing approval of an extra work order on the same con-
tract. Mr. Locke moved that both requests be granted (Mr.
Raymond having approved them). Mr. Sarano seconded the
motion and it was so voted.
The meeting adjourned at 7:40 P.M.
