SELECTMEN'S MEETING, MARCH 20, 1940. Cl
A special meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held in
the Selectmen's Room, Town Office Building, at 5:00 P. M.
Chairman Giroux and Messrs. Potter and Sarano were preset.
The Clerk was also present.
The Chairman said that Mr. Harold B. Lamont, in a tele-
phone conversation with him, asked if the Selectmen would
submit- a motion under Article Two BB the Warrant for the
March 26th Town Meeting for the naming of a Committee of
Citizens to make a general investigation of Towh Departments,

such a Committee, that the idea and the motion should be
presented by the Town Meeting :Ambers themselves.
Mr. Sarano said that there was a low section in Downing
Road near Outlook Drive. Prospect Hill Road is an accepted
street, but has no drainage, and surface water flows down
from Prospect Hill Road onto Downing Road, which is unacc-
epted. This causes flooding of the street. There are two
catch basins on DowningRoad, but theft seem to be clogged
up. Mr. Sarano said that some of the people were unable
to :get fuel and other types of service because of the con-
dition. He said that, considering the fact that the water
Flooding was flowing from an accepted street, and the damage being
Downing Rd.done, he felt that something should be done to remedy the
situation. Mr. Sarano moved that the Selectmen, a eting as
the Board of Health, declare that an emergency exists, and
that Mr. Wm. C. Paxton, Supt. of the Highway Division, be
instructed to clean out the two datoh basins on Downing
Road so that the w ater might escape. Mr. Potter seconded
the motion, and it was so voted.
The meeting adjourned at 6:07 P. M.
