SELECTMENIS MEETING
MARCH 20 1939.
A special meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held
in the Selectments Room, Town Office Building, at 7:40
P.M. Messrs. Giroux, Potter, Clark and Rowse were present.
The Clerk was also present.
The doors were opened so that those persons desiring
to be present at the opening of the sealed proposals on
Contract 3, 4 and 5, North Lexington Sewer, Docket Mass.
1464-F, might enter. Mr. Harrison P. Eddy, Mr. Whitman
and Mr. Alden of Metcalf & Eddy were present. Mr. Frank
H. Street, P.W.A.R.E.I., and Mr. Raymond, Supt. of Public
Works were also present.
At 6:00 P. M. the Chairman called the meeting to
order and declared the time for submitting bids was closed.
He read Addendum #1 of Contract 4 and Addendum #1 of
Contract 5. He Informed the group that bids on Contract #5
would be read first.
The first bid read was that of the Hayes Pump and
' Machinery Co. of 125 Purchase Street, Boston, and a Bid Bids on
Bond in the amount of $900.00 was submitted. The base North
bid was $17,213.00. Lexington

The second bid read was that of the Turbine Equip- Project.
ment Co., of 80 Federal Street, Boston, and a Bid Bond
in,the amount of $750.00 was submitted. The base bid
was $14,642.00.
The third bid read was that of The Downey Co. of
791 Tremont Street, Boston, and a Certified Check in the
amount of $900.00 was submitted. The base bid was $16,943.
The fourth bid read was that of Ralph P.Hall Co., of
141 Milk Street, Boston, and a Certified Check in the
amount of $800.00 was submitted. The bas bid was
$119994400.
The fifth bid read was that of the Starkweather
Engineering Co., of 246 Walnut Street, Newton, and a Bid
Bond in the amount of $750.00 was submitted. The base
bid was $13,490.00.
The bids on Contract #3 were ,read next.
' The first bid read was that of DiMarco & Ciccone, of
White Plains, New York, and a bid bond in the amount of
12500.00 was submitted. The total for Base Bid was
27,964.00 and the total with Alternate No. 2 was $3401.50.

The second bid read was that of W. C. Ferguson, of
East Jaffrey, N. H., and a bid bond in the amount of $2,000. '
was submitted. The total for Base Bid was $26,424.50, and
the total with Alternate No. 2 was $3,595.25.
The third bid read was that of DeCristafaro & Ross,
of 38 Glendower Road, Roslindale, Mass., and a certified
check in the amount of $2,000.00, and another in the
amount of $150.00 were submitted. The total for Base Bid
was $40,693.75, and the total with Alternate No. 2 was
$3,305.00.
The fourth bid was that of John MacDonald Construction
Co. of 215 California Street, Newton, Mass., and a bid
bond in the amount of $1,375.00 was submitted. The total
for Base Bid was $40,855.00, and the total with Alternate
No. 2 was not inserted.
The bids on Contract #4 were read next.
The first bid read was that of the Morgan Construction
Co. of 193 Hanover St., Boston, Mass., and a bid bond in
the amount of $2500.00 was submitted. The base bid was
$42.,276,00.
The second bid read was that of the F. G. Jacques
Construction Co. of West Roxbury, Mass., and a bid bond in ,
the amount of 1,334.50 was submitted. The base bid was
$262690.00.
The third bid read was that of the Wm. A. Cann Co.
of 9 Summit Road, Lexington, and a bid bond in the amount
of $1500. was submitted. The base bid was $29,944.00.
The fourth bid read was that of the John McDonald
Construction Co. of Newton, Mass., and a bid bond in the
amount of $1075.00 was submitted. The base bid was $31,000.
The fifth bid read was that of Albert P. Rounds of
Stoneham, Mass., and a bid bond in the amount of $1500,
was submitted. The base bid was $20,525.00.
The sixth bid read was that of Walter L.'Ritchie of
7 David Square, Somerville, Mass., and a bid bond in the
amount of $1250.00 was submitted. The base bid was
$24,300.00.
The seventh bid read was that of -the Chandler Con-
struction Co. of 45 Newbury St., Boston, and a bid bond
in the amount of $1400.00 was submitted. The base bid
was $26,290.00.
The eighth bid read was that of DeCristafaro and Rosa, '
of 38 Glendower Road, Roslindale, Mass., and a certified
check in the amount of $2,000.00 was submitted. The base
bid was $29,80.0.00.
The reading of the bids was completed at 9=00 P.M.,
and the meeting adjourned at that time.
