Committee to Discuss Land Acquisition met last Thurstay and Mrs.
Frick attended. She reported that the various members of the
a, Committee expressed differences in opinion on the purpose of
the committee. Erik Clarke of the Planning Board presented a
list of steps in land acquisition site evaluation, evaluation
of cost, appraisals of cost, legal status, priority and negotie
tions.I At the Committee
meeting Mrs. Frick was asked to survey several nearby towns such
as Wayland, Lincoln and Weston to see how they handle land
acquisition.
Questions on Wetlands and Conservation Restrictions were an-
swered at the meeting of the Mass. Association of Conservation
Commission Saturday, which was attended by Mesdames Nichols and
Pease. It was discovered that conservation easement (restriction)
goals may be in conflict with a town' s easements to clean and
dredge brooks. The importance of cooperation between involved
boards was stressed at the conference. Wetland was defined as
land with water on it after a heavy rainfall or land where water
fills the hole created when a shovel of dirt is removed.
Wetland Zoning. Mr. Cohen mentioned that a case on the cost cf
Wetland zoning is coming up in the Town of Dedham, which has a
strict wetland zoning by-law.
Mark Moore "Lexington Green" proposal. Mrs. Nichols reported
that she had made inquiries of neighbors and former owners in
the area. A member of the tropeano family who lives on Revere
Street reported that most of the land on the Lexington Lumber
side is dry, except for one low spot, and that the side on the
other side of the tracks is wetter. The fact that the land
dries out rapidly was noted, as was fear by members of the
Tropeano family that development of the condominium complex
might worsen neighborhood water problems. Mrs. Rosina Busa,
who with her husband John formerly owned the triangle on the
far side of the tracks, reported that the land has 2 feet of
good ]cam for farming.
The meeting was interrupted by election returns downstairs and
finally declared adjourned at 10 00 p.m. , until Monday, March
13, at 7 45 p.m.
Respectfully submitted, -"'- ° - Secretary to the Commission
