Living and Learning Centers (land now or formerly of Kaufmann)
During the Board of Appeals hearing, from which ensued a permit
to divide the large lot and to use the residentially-zoned land
for a proposed day-care center, Mesdames Frick, Pease and Rawls
spoke with the principals of the Living and Learning Centers and
gained from them verbal agreement that they would grant a 100-foot
conservation easement. Because this easement could become access
between the Great Meadow and Lexington conservation lands, it was
agreed among Conservation members that Living and Learning should
be asked (by Mrs. Rawls) if the easement could include walking
rights. Mr. Cohen will write Town Counsel suggesting language
for an easement agreement.
Living and Learning Centers are anxious to begin construction as
soon as possible. However, in order to do this, an access drive-
way into the site would involve filling of a small section of wet-
lands. Voted that a hearing should be set for May 1 (in accordance
wyth GLC 131, s. 40, Hatch Act) , should the Notice of Intent ar-
rive before the next Commission meeting. Mrs. Rawls will get in
touch with L & L on steps they must take, and the Commission will
perform its Hatch Act functions as expeditiously as possible and
try to encourage DNR to do likewise.
Filling at Stratham Road and Woodberry Commission members will
take another look and ask Mr. McSweeney to do likewise.
Cooke. Since Board of Appeals permit for variance has been granted,
Commission VOTED that letter be sent to Board of Selectmen request-
ing that the option be exercised and that they procede to acquire
this land, as voted under Article 63 of the 1971 Annual Town Meeting.
