Minutes of the June 26 ; 1972 Commission Meeting were approved as at amended. Pb Clarke Jr High School Holding Pond Mrs Rawls reported conver- sations with DNR and HUD on permitted use of conservation land in relation to the PBC request to place required "holding pond" on Swenson Farm, adjacent to the new school site. Motion To draft a letter to PBC saying the Commission will write DNR and HUD, giving Com mission' s preliminary approval, provided the Commission receives a more detailed plan VOTED "yes" Rawls, Frick, Kassler, Cohen, Williams and Larson "No" Pease (Another vote will. be taken before final approval ) (HMK & DGW) Motorized Vehicles Dr Eassler reported on his conversation with Chief Corr, concerning motorized vehicles trespassing on Con- servation and Town-owned land Chief Corr would encourage citizens to report such violations to the Police Department Hill-Meek Land (Art 53, '72) Continued progress. (HMK) Trash Disposal. Dr Friedman discussed the Raytheon Report. Hearings will be held by the State on suggested methods of dis- posal by districts Agreed that Mrs. Solomon and Dr Friedman represent the Commission with a request that the Town Manager designate a representative from the Town of Lexington Granny Pond (Meriam Hill)' Mrs Pease reported on a communication from the Middlesex Conservation Services regarding hydrology re- search of the origin and present condition of the pond It appears to be a costly effort to pursue further, according to Reitzel Associate (WSP to DGW) Tophet Swamp Pollution Mrs Pease reported seeing raw sewerage being emptied into the Simonds Brook at the junction of the North Lexington Brook near railroad tracks, apparently from an open sewer manhole Suggested that all members observe the area as soon as possible Environmental Concern Committee (Air Pollution) . Dr William Manning, a member of this committee, delivered 35 experimental plants (bean and tobacco) to designated areas in the six pre- cincts Pollution sensitivity will be documented during the summer. A letter from the University of Massachustts has been sent to towns informing of the availability of stu- dents to help with management of conservation lands. This was referred to Town Manager for his opinion Mr, Williams study and perhaps pursue this for the Commission. 5. Arlington Resident, Mrs Dibacco, of Patricia Terrace, has requested help, stating that Lexington had filled improper y, thus contributing to an already high water to le on their land Copies of the letter will be sent to the Board of Health and Engineering Department. (HMK) 6. Request from Town Manager to meet with Chairman on communi- cations (HMK) 7 Lincoln Conservation Commission Chairman Robert Lemire requests a joint meeting. Commission noted need, recommended waiting until fall (HMK) 8 Munroe Brook Meadows planning Board has sent Commission a copy of the study p posal sent to consultants under Art 82., (HNK) 9 DNR Inspection Notice has been received from Conservation. Services (Connolly) re Suburban Office Bldg development of land east of Waltham Street at the Waltham-Lexington line, stating that Hatch Act application will be required 10. Cha ion Trees. The Commission complimented Dr. Friedman on his research and subsequent article in the July 6 Minute Man.
