' MARCH 15th, 1937.
A Special meeting of the Board of Selectmen was
held in the Selectmen s Room, Town Office Building, at.
4.00 P.M. Chairman Ferguson, Messrs. Potter, Giroux
and Ross were present. The Clerk was also present.
The Board discussed the votes for the Town Meet -
ing..

It was decided to take up the article on the Smith Barnes and
property before the article on the Barnes property and Smith
if the Smith property went through, then the amount to- property
be appropriated under the,Barnes article would be re- articles..
duced by $1500.00.
Inasmuch as there is a balance of approximately
$900.00 in the account for granolith c sidewalks, sundry
streets, Mr. Giroux moved that the amount to be requested Sidewalks
under this article be reduced to $500.00. Mr. Potter
seconded the motion and it was so voted.
The Chairman reported that the cost of improving
' street lighting on Mass. Avenue from Woburn Street to Street
the Arlington line would amount to about $400. for the Lights
balance of the year. Mr. Giroux moved that the amount
to be requested for street lighting be reduced from
$23,500.00 to $223,900.00.. Mr. Potter seconded the
motion and it was so voted.
The'Chairman said that he did not like to ask for
the $600.00 additional in the Public Works Building
Repairs account for the Town Painter. He said that
Mr. Raymond thought that the painting of traffic lines
was done by regular employees but it was done by extra
help. He thought that with this work and what would Town
have to be done painting snow equipment, libraries, Painter
etc.., that there.would be ample work for a painter in
the appropriations without asking for the $600.00. He
said that the extra man could be employed for fifteen
or twgnty weeks doing all this work and Mr. Raymond
could decide whether or not a Town Painter was needed
in the future. Mr. Ross moved that the appropriation
for Public Works Bldg. Operation be set at $100374.
Mr. Potter seconded the motion and it was so voted.
Mr. Raymond reported that Mr. George W. Norton
of Watertown Street had signed an agreement to the Childs
' effect that he would allow a water pipe to be laid Water
across his property to serve Calvin W. Chills. Inasmuch Service.

would be willing to pay a betterment assessment, Mr.

Ross moved that Article 19 to extend the water main in '
Watertown Street be indefinitely postponed. Mr. Giroux
seconded the motion and it was so voted.
The Chairman said that if the Town voted to approve
Insurance. Article 29 which provided compensation insurance for
additional employees, it would be necessary to ask for
$500.00 additional for Insurance uhder Article 6.
The meeting adjourned at 50-00 P.M.
