SELECTMEN'S MEETING '
OCTOBER 30, 1933.
A special meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held
on Monday, October 30th, at 5:30 P. M. Messrs. Trask, Gil -
creast, Ferguson, O'Connell and Lyons were present. The
Clerk was also present.
The Chairman explained that according to a previous
vote of the Board of Selectmen a safe Deposit box was
rented into which the combinations of all vaults in the
Town Offices were placed in case of emergency owing to the
fact that when Dr. Kane passed away, the Town Treasurer's
vault had to be opened by the safe people, causing expense
to the Town. The agreement under which this box was rented
was that three members of the Board would be required to be
present to open the deposit box to obtain the combinations.
Owing to the fact that an emergency arose on account
of the death of Charles F. Pierce, Town Accountant, Mr.
Arthur McMenimen, State Accountant, was requested to take
charge of the books, and Mr. Trask secured from the deposit
box the combination to the Town Accountant's vault. ,
The Board met this evening to ratify the action of
the Chairman, and to give their approval of the opening of
the deposit box owing to the emergency.
It was voted to appoint Arthur W. McMenimen as acting
Town Accountant for a period of sixty days or until such
time as another accountant is appointed.
A true record, Attest:
Clerk.
