SELECTMEN'S MEETING
1 JUNE 27, 11933.•
A relgular meeting of the Selectmen was held at the
Selectmen's Room¢ Town Office Building at 7:30 P.M. Messrs.
Trask, Gilcreast' Ferguson, 0!Connell and Lyons were present.
The Clerk was Mo present.
State Aid pay roll in the amount of $27, was signed
by the Board.
Report was received from the Health Inspector in which he
stated that Mr. James F. Moran of Pleasant Street had now Moran,
white -washed his buildings and could noir be granted a permit pig
'to keep pigs if the Board so desired. permit.
It was therefor voted1to grant Mr. Moran a permit to
keep 850 pigs at his premises on Pla assn t Street.
It was vote to appoint Patrick J. Maguire as Dog
Dog
Officer and the og warrant Was also signed by the Chairman.

Statement of the amount of relief furnished for
January, Februar� and March for aid was signed by the
Aid &
Board.. This return is made to the Dept. of Corporations
Relief.
and Taxation of the State and they in turn will report to
the Federal Emergency Relief Administration.
Application was received from George We Mark of
17 Lakeview Terrace, Waltham, in which he requested
Lunch
permission to operate a lunch cart at the cornfr of
Cart
Depot Park and Mass. Avenue on land owned -by the Scott Tea
refused.
Company. .After considering the application it was voted
not to grant a Common Victualler's License at this location.
Letter was received from James J. Carroll in which he
requested permis ion for the use of the band stand owned
by the town for e band of the Lexington Community
Recreation Assoc ation when they have band concerts for

the benefit of the people of the town. The first concert

is to be held on June 30,•1933.
The Chairman stated that the chairs that were used
by the band came from the Cary Memorial Building and should
not be used outf doors. The Board intend to purchase
some folding chairs and will loan them for this purpose
'from the Parjc Department.

Research Bureau, Inc. in which they requested that the
Shop.
Board give publicity to their shop called the Architects'
Shop at 19 Bromfield Street featuring handicraft off'
unemployed architects and their families. $1548, was
spend in'relief wages to residents of the Town of Lexington
and they feel that they should be patronized.
It was decided to give publicity to this shop -through
the local paper.

he inquired what was to be done about Helen Ready's Salary
and also about the pay of Wal ter Holman, Gabriel Bracehi
and Cam-Cuecinello who are paid 650 an hour.
Salaries. In regard to Miss Readyfs salary, it was decided to
hold her job open for her, but to allow the two weeks salary
already paid her and without further payments until her '
return. In regard tothe other men, it was decided that
owing to the fact that they do special work, their pay
should not be changed.

The Board felt that change could be made that would
be more feasible than his suggestion.
The Supt. of Public Works was also requested to
communicate with Mr. Bills to have him change this light
so that the approval of the Department of Public Works
may be had.

Letter was received from the Town Counsel in which he
' callbd atteAion to the unpaid bills of Walter Black aggregating
$15H•60 for work done on the Public Works Building prior to
March 31, 1931, and a bill received recently for work on
Wood Street after blasting operations.
Letter was presented by the Supt..of Public Works stating
that the bills due Mr. Black for the public Works building
were being held up for the reason thst more than this amount Black
was owed to the town by Black for water service and rates. Bills,
In regard to the bill for blasting damage alleged to
have been caused to the property of Andrew Bacigaloupe on
Wood Street by the breaking of windows; the Supt, stated that
th6 town Was not liable for this bill inasmuch as it was not
authorized by m y employee of the town, and Mr. Black should
look to Mr,. Bacigaloupe for his money.
It was therefore decided to notify the Town Counsel
that this bill would not be an off set'to the charges made by
• the Term against Black.
The Supt. of Public Works was requested to post the
'ft* on the Phelps property inasmuch as complaints were Dump$
received'of the smoke when the dump is set on fire. The
Supt, stated that he would post the dump and advise dumping
at the•Publia-Works Building.
`The-Supto reported that he had given enough time to
' the Lexington Flag Staff Co. to have the flag raised and Flag
painted but.it has not been done= it was therefore voted Staff,

Application was received from H enry Nutt, Jr. again
for work. He had been working at Mr. Bailey's Farm on -
East Street and desires to have the services of the hewn
Physician inasmuch as he had sores on his knees from
weeding. He also stated that his wife was'sick 'and he
would like the services of the Physician for her*.
Mr.. 1itchell informed him that as long as -he was not
receiving aid, he could not receive•the services of the
Town Physician. He informed Mr. Mitchell ,that he IpW*babaf
would go back to Mr. %ung►s to work again next falai as he
was laid off last su=wr in the same manner that he was
laid off this year.
It iras decided to take no action on this case.
In regard to the application of Charles A, Burbidge who
lives with his father-in-law at 5 Banks Avenue, Mr. Nitc it
stated that the mortgage on his property had been readjusted,
and the man had not had any permanent employment for a fear.
Mr. Mitchell recommended that he be given two days.
The Board decided to give him two days_and that he
watch his activities for one month and report to the basad
regarding him at the and of one month.
Application was received from Norman H. Brown, §F Varker
Street. He was formerly employed as a State Police dfflcer
