SELECTMENfS MEETING - DECEMBER 29, 1934.'
A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held

at the Selectments Room, Town Office Building at 7 P.M.

The Board decided to inquire if there were sufficient
funds in the Unclassified Account to take care of this
amount.. It was found that this money could not be
paid out of the Unclassified Account, but it could be
paid out of the 'ark Dent. and that the Supt. of the Park
Dept. would make arrangements to have his own men do the
work of illuminating the tree; therefore it would nbt
be as much expense as usual.

Lexington Zoning By-law. Mr. Wrightington stated
that he rendered an opinion to Mr. Maddison,
Chairman of the Board of Appeals on the application
that had.bbeen•rdceived and he -stated that he
believed that the blacksmith shop is substantially
the same use as an automobile repair shop, and if
the building had been used continuously as a black!-
smith

the adoption of the Zoning Law that he would have
the rirrht to use the bailding now for such use.
As far as the gasoline permit was concerned, it
was up to the Boarr?.of Selectmen to grant him the
permit on the hearing for that purpose.

For the week ending November 29, 1930.
HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT

The department dontinued the leveling and
grading preparing Wood Street for water main
construction.
Snow fence has been erected adjacent to a
number of streets. '
Thursday night and Friday, it was necessary
to sand streets and sidewalks.
Next week the department will look after the
regular maintenance work.
MOTH & SHADE TREE DEPT.
Gypsy moth nests have been treated with
creosote in the Town Woods, Lincoln Street
and Bedford Street. This work will occupy the
department next week.
WATER & SEWER,DEPARTMENT.
Water Maintenance
Water ser#rice installed for Smith at 74
Locust Ave. and service installed for :o-sce at
76 Locust Avenue.
Water Construction
Worktng on extension of about 1501 of pipe
on Eatba. Road.
The work of laying the 12l1 main in East Street ,
from Burnham's drive to Grant Street, a distance
of 10811 has been completed, and two hydrants have
been sbt.
Sewer Construction
Work was started on the ex#ension of an 8"

sewer in Mass. Avenue from Fottler Avenue and approximately
150' of 8" sewer pipe has been laid.
Sewer maintenance
Sewer service installed for Smith at 74 Locust Ave.;
Rose, 76 Locust Avenue; and completed service for Maynard
on Oakland Street.
The work contemplated for next week is as follows:
Wood Street water main; water and sewer services, etc.
Engineering Department
Highways
Lincoln Street survey for layout, sections and plans.
Completed profile and sections of Food Street and
established new grades.
Sewer
Drew up and recorded plans and betterment assessments
for Robbins Road and Watson Road.
Grades for construction of Mass. Avenue from Fottler
Avenue to Bowker Street.
Levels for design of Watson Road and Robbins Road.
Water
Figures grades for Wood Street (entire), and marked
some stakes.
Tied in East Street extension.
Miscellaneous
Took six additional snaps of the OfConnell property.
