Ellsworth and Hitchcock from Waterbury, Connecticut, came before the Board to get the Board's view relative to establishing a cemetery on the Munroe ' property on Lowell Street. They stated that they used the local banks for their banking;.they invite local men to join their corporation. The Board informed them that they would take the matter under advisement. After the gentlement were dismissed Mr. Marshall talked with the Board about whether or , not they would consider the Lexington Bark property as an available piece of property to use for this purpose, Inasmuch as there already is the town cemetery on the opposite side of the Street f33 1. and the Shawsheen cemetery runs back to the line of the Park land with the addition that they have just put on. The Board informed him that they might consider that location. Mrs. Mabel F. Langley who owns two lots on Baker Avenue came" the 3oard to inform them that.she had never received any notice that the Langley bill, Board intended to lay out Baker Avenue and assess Baker Ave. ,betterments to her and asked that she be given the privilege of apportioning the bill. The Board informed her that they did not know Just what could be done about her bill, but would let her know as soon as advice was received from the Tbwn Counsel. Mr. T. A. Custance brought up the matter of fire patrol and suggested that the Chief of the Fire Fire Patrol. Dept. and the Chief of the Police meet with the Selectmen to discuss this matter, he stated that at the Selectmen's Association Meeting the matter was discussed at length. Mr. Custance also brought up the matter of extension of water in East Street to the property of Johannes T. Carlson, which is located at the corner of Grant Street. he stated that it would cost Mr. Carlson about $120. for 1000 1 of water pipe on the guarantee and that with his greenhouses abater hw would use a great deal more than the guarantee Construction. would costa Mr. Custance recommended that the Board construct 650' of water pipe from Lowell Street to the Woburn line to give service to Edward Bunzel and also to construct 3500' -on East Street. It was voted to install the water in East Street from the end othe pipe in East Street to Grant Street, and in Lowell Street to the Woburn line. Various letters were received from places named in the letter of the Lloyd -Thomas Company which they stated they made the appraisal for. The Board therefore came to the conclusion that the employees of this Company had started a new Company and rather misrepresented the work they had done. Letter was received from Mr. Andrew T. Bain, Plumbing Inspector, in which he enclosed proposed amendment to the Plumbing Regulations regarding septic tanks. This was done at the suggestion.of Amendment to Mr. Custance. Mr. Custance stated, however, that Plumbing they did not convey completely his ideas and the Regulation. matter was referred to him to take up with the Plumbing Inspector to bring in the proper regulation. Letter was received from the Oavernor's Committee regarding Highway Safety,.in which they Highway called attention to the fact that the Committee Safety reported by the Selectmen on highway safety had Committee. not had any meetings. When this Committee *as appointed consisting of Edward W. Taylor, Chief of Fire Dept. James J. Sullivan, Chief of Police, Calvin W. Childs, William S. Scamman and Frank R. Shepard, the Supt. of Public Works was requested to call the meeting together. They have never met, and therefore the Board decided to request the Supt. of Public Works to find out how many members of thli Committee desired to remain on the Committee and if they did not they would consider appointing anew Committee.. The Board decided to charge a fee of $2.00 for the balance of the year for this license. The Board voted to grant an overhanging sign permit to Dominic Restuccia, 2 Waltham St. This Overhanging is to cover the barber pole which he intends to sign. erect. The Supt. of Public Works reported.in regard to ' the sewer on Cliffe -Ave. that it would take in the house of John Murray and William Q. Bartels. The Supt. of Public Works also reported that the Sewer order did not include the house of Edward B. Hogan. Betterment. It was decided, however, to install the sewer to the house and file the order covering the installation of the sewer to the Hogan house. The Board signed abatement of sewer betterment on the property of Mary A. Walsh, 2242 Massachusetts Sewer Avenue, it having been agreed that the betterment Betterments would be abated each year after apportionment. Mr._Custance Vehicle agreed to attend the meeting. junk lie. hearing. The follvwing,is the weekly report of the Supt. of Public Works. For the week ending November 2, 1930. HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT. The construction of Taft Avenue has been ' completed. Gutters and catch basins have been cleaned, surface patches made and other maintenance work has been done. Next week the regular maintenance will be carried on. CI" MOTH & SHADE TREE DEPT. The treatment of the gypsy moth nest with creosote has occupied the department and the same _work will be done next week. PARK DEPARTMENT. Regular maintenance work is now occupying the attention of the department. %PATER & SEWER DEPARTMENT - Water Maintenance A renewal has been made for Moretti, Bow Street, Service installed for Minute Man Golf Links, Concord Avenue; Holmes, Bertwell Road. Water Construction The work of lowering the two 6" mains entering the new Public Works Building has been completed. A new 211 line has been laid through the building and 1" laterals taken from this have been distributed through the build- ing as directed. The School Street main has been completed and a total of 8901 of pipe have been laid. Two hydrants have been set and a 6" gate valve inserted on the old School Street main. Work was started on Tuesday, Oct. 28, preparing site for the laying of the 1211 water main in Lowell Street from Porter's greenhouses to East Street. A shovel was put to work in order that thie 'main could be laid on the side of the road to prevent breaking up the finished road. Sewer Construction Approximately 6001 8"' sewer pipe has been laid in Hillerest and Theresa Avenues, and two manholed have been inserted. The work contemplated for next week is as follows: Lowell Street main, water and sewer servicest etc. ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT Highways. Line and grade for steps on Taft Avenue.
