The museum would like to change existing signage and add new signage. • Lettering on existing wall: Metal 8' high lettering with a bright chrome finish are being proposed. The DAC had several concerns • Appearance and maintenance of shiny chrome • The combination of bronze on the eagle and chrome on the letters • Would the sign be externally illuminated? • If the lettering were lowered from the existing location the plantings would seem to block the view. What will happen to the plantings? • Proposed (4) Banners along drive: • What are the graphics on the banners? • Lighting would not be acceptable on the banners • What is the purpose of the banners? • Height and size seem larger than necessary • Drawings are inaccurate which makes assessment difficult • Proposed sign at footpath, 14' high flat bronze-finish metal sign, 2-sided: • Seems large for pedestrian traffic • Bronze finish with red, white& blue vinyl seems busy • What about curb cuts(existing &proposed)? • Is the walk handicapped accessible? • Box sign on hill with pink/gray granite base: • As proposed it is internally lit, which we will not allow • The sign seems too large at 22'long x 5' high • Awkward combination of identification and exhibit info It was agreed that for an elegant/understated facility on beautiful grounds, it looks like it is becoming over-signed! 2. The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 for the PBC/DAC meeting. Some members stayed to discuss Marrett Road, where Dean Curtin has been removing trees. Steve offered the DAC's services to create a replacement plan—which John has done. The town will try to negotiate for reparations.
