LEXINGTON DESIGN ADVISORY COMMITTEE MINUTES
Present: Barbara Hulsizer,Tom Coffman,Jack Nolan,(John Davies,LJohn Frey Betsy Whitman,
Steven Hurley, John Vinton, Karen Bechtel, Guest: Eva Heney
1 May Minutes in progress to be submitted next month
2.Youville Place review John and Steve reviewed plans. John and Steve commented plans were well
done and only one tree will be removed.
3.Free Standina sian 45 Hartwell Ave. postponed
4 Emery Park Next meeting with selectmen scheduled for June 17 1996, Selectmen's meeting room.
Steve met with Rick White and Leo McSweeney. Leo indicates that he hopes the selectmen would make a
decision of preferred schemes.
5.Benches-Steve reported part of the 1656 Mass. Ave received approval with HDC last week,5 benches
and 3 barrels were approved.John Frey indicated 4 other benches were approved by HDC adjacent to the
Cooperative Bank. Steve and John to develop a list and/or sketch plans of possible bench locations for
the DAC review and comment.John Davies suggested benches be installed along major walking
sidewalks
6.Sian Guide lines- Steven to contact Chamber and Center Committee for written responses of sign
guidelines as soon as possible.
7 Five Forks Island-Barbara Hulsizer spoke with Brian Gilbert regarding Fve Forks Island. Brian agreed to
straighten existing sign poles, remove existing shrubs and fill existing divits and plant grass seed.
8 Buckman Tavern John Frey met with Brian Gilbert to review and discuss space adjacent to Bike Path to
west of Visitor's Center improvements may include to remove dead and weedy material, regrade and
extend lawn to bike path and plant new material to replace the large elm DPW removed. John Frey
suggested to plant lilac or other plant material. Brian Gilbert to verify property line prior to any planting and/
or grading.John Frey indicated Brain Gilbert suggested replacement of elm tree with white oak.
9 Worthen Road Island Barbara Hulsizer,John Frey met with Brian Gilbert and suggested planting of
Armstrong red maple. Tom Coffman questioned planting of single tree in island. John Frey agreed to the
possibility of planting additional trees. Barbara and John to advise.
10 Liahtinn Ontions Survey -John Frey requested DAC members to forward recommendations to
Lighting Options Committee. Tom encouraged DAC members to develop opinion of lighting options.
Committee agreed to notify Lighting Options Committee and selectmen.
11 MinuteMan Tech Sian- John Frey to send letter of support to Lincoln Planning Board and Board of
Selectmen.
12. Miscellaneous-Tom Coffman commented on possibility of improvements to Lincoln Street Shell gas
station. Barbara Hulsizer commented on painted white curbs. Committee to review and advise.
