Minutes of June 11 1991 meeting were postponed as they are in transit.
Minutes of meeting of July 9 1991 , approved as read. Minutes of Aug. 13,
1991 meeting approved as read.
Tree guidelines will be distributed to those who have not seen them.
Battle Green and Buckman area proposal asked of DAC for town policy
Barbara Hulsizer will chair Jack Eddison will be Selectman liaison. Present
monuments probably grandfathered. Who would accept creche? Betsy
Whitman was asked to speak to Alden Flanders about the possibility of the
Clergy Association discussing this.
DAC Nominations were discussed. Those who have been active and might
wish to come onto the committee are Peg Read LCC, Steve Hurley LCC, Roger
Kallstrom. Another recommendation was Philip Poinelli The membership was
polled as to their wishes: John Frey offered to step down but this was
unanimously rejected. Rick Bechtel Tom Coffman, John Vinton, Barbara
Hulsfizer would like to continue. Kerry Brandin would offer her spot, but
would be happy continuing. Betsy Whitman would offer her spot, as having
been on the committee for a long time and understanding the need for
rotation, but would be happy to continue. Albert Huang wishes to go off as a
regular member as he anticipates a great deal of out-of-state travel. John
Frey will contact Walter Pierce to learn of his wishes.
Meeting time limit. Having had some long meetings it was decided to meet
from 8:00 to 1000 in quality time
Benches: Since the sidewalk is somewhat narrower in front of the Giroux
Building, 2 will be tried. One of the trees there is almost dead. In the grass
area between the School Administrarion Building and Mass. Avenue 2 are
planned. At the Visitors Center 2 are planned, one 5' and one 8' near the
building. Around the beech tree is the possibility of a round bench. The
construction needs to be researched. If in sections, donors could give one
segment, 4 are planned for Emery Park. Lexington Square owner to be
consulted and possibly 2 may be used. 2 benches for the Library bus stop
taking into consideration grading, paving, and hedge replacement. The area
around the main entrance of the Library is being studied.
Board of Appeals; Under consideration are the signs of Sherwin Williams.
One is attached to the building and one is freestanding. The DAC will send a
memo saying that we feel the signs are too large - see Design Guidelines,
page 60 and the Zoning By Law The proportions need to be improved. The
security lights spray over into the residential neighborhood.
Tree Guidelines will be presented to the HDC.
John Vinton offered to be scribe at the next meeting. Adjournment was at
1005 pin.
