John Frey, Peg Read, Bob Ossman, Albert Huang, Jack Eddison, Tom Coffman, Betsy Wnitman I a. The minutes of the Feb. 12_, 1991 , meeting were approved with the following amendments. a. There was discussion and approval of the Craft Cleaner sign. b. John was to write a letter for the Board of Appeals re/ 'Mighty Su) in East Lexington recommending a special condition to Include shrubbery to remove some asphalt, and to plant 2 red oaks In space near sidewalk John spoke of Tree Meeting and possible fund for trees, 1 .0. A rotation for scribe is as follows. April - Kerry May - Barbara June - Torn July - Jack (he volunteered P August - Rick (NB I switched Rick and Barbara as he had done December) Sept. - John b 2. Street Lighting in Lexington: DAC 2/ 14/91 memo prepared by Walter Pierce ecited by Tom Betsy and John was delivered to the Selectmen s office 2/ 15/91 Lighting Options Committee met with Jacquie Smith last week and is meeting with her again tonight Rick may release some new figures from Boston Edison soon. Some of us walked the Vinebrook and noticed wide spacing and dimness LCC decided to send a follow-up memo to the Selectmen aoout lighting. David Dixon s meeting with the DPW, Town manager etc, is scheduled fo; Thursday, March 28 at MOO OO a.m. In the Selectmen s Meeting Room. It 1s hoped that it will be taped or that notes will be taken. DAC members and associates are welcome 4. Bench status:Blds came in and bench we specified 1s being awarded, according to Deborah Radway Benches came in $40 00 to $50 00 lower Trash receptacles came in higher, according to Jim McLaughlin in Purchasing. Has catalogue price increased ? A business person in Lexington wishes to give a bench, but not in designated locations. Someone will explain the concept to her 5. "Sweet Peppers'" sign specifications and drawings were submitted for our re\ iew before going to the Board of Appeals, The projecting sign was shown to oe 5' in diameter surrounded by an iron band, The sidewalk is 8' 4' wide there our re:ommendation: a: refer to "Design Guidelines" for file 'Private Sector Improvements The last paragraph on page 57 gives advice on square footage and projection. b: show elevational views with sidewalk pedestrian, car, and better bracket, We do not recommend approval as 1t stands. Nice logo, we felt. 6 Tree Committee members Barbara Hulsizer, Peg Read, Nell Walker, Jack Eddison, and John Frey met 2/27/91 Jack John and Dale Gaasland will talk with Rev Meyers of the Methodist Church. He might be interested in offering some trees to the town the way Shawmut Bank did. These would border the asphalt on the two side streets. Future private enterprise mightInvolveEast Lexington, Countryside 8 Gulf Station required no permits for their construction, so we had no input. Perhaps we should encourage them to plant trees. 9 88 i 0 Jack presented Dales "Master Plan" for Lexington s Division of Parks and Trees This was quite a surprise There ensued d long discussion about process Peg Read pointed out that before pencil 1s put to paper for design, there should be a statement of need for each park, what was is, or will be, its use, neighborhood input, public hearings, etc., etc according to standard landscape design practice This, apparently, was produced by his hired assistant Can we help the development of this document which evolved from considerable thought on Dale s part. He saw a void and filled it. Bob Ossman s suggestion of a landscape architect to adopt a park was discussed. 11 Emery Park, Most felt replies should be tabulated even though there were few Were the questions too ambiguous?
