(continued)
Page 2
Comments B BENCH may be too short unless it can be made
in longer sizes than 4' (Later I found that it comes 6' and 8' too)
The Art Nouveau character of the Portland Bench
may not be the ideal character for Lexington,
though most liked it per se
John will get more information and costs on these
benches for review at next meeting Other suggestions
for benches are encouraged from anyone Please submit
by Sept 11th with as much info as possible including
cost
3 Review of Walter Pierce's re-write of Pages 5 6 7 & 8 of Volume II
of the Design Guidelines Report Generally, all of us liked the
re-write and thought it was much more "user friendly" Walter will
clarify the relationship between the Central Business District and
the Battle Green Historic District and the whole four pages again
with John Davies Most of us felt a map showing the districts
should be in Volume II Jack will see that Walter's 4 page re-write
gets to Bob Boyer for his further input
4 The Planning Board and Bob Boyer have not yet reviewed the Design
Guideline report The Planning Board has a meeting August 28th,
but it is doubtful we will have their comments before September
Discrepancies with Town Zoning By-Laws must be addressed before
report is published.
5 Some discussion was held as to how to incorporate DPW comments into
the Guidelines Report DPW points about durability of materials
and furniture and maintenance considerations were well taken, but
specific insertions into the text have not been recommended yet
6 Jack will work with Rick White in getting the outstanding comments
on the Design Guidelines draft from the Planning Board and others
7 A longdiscussion was held on how to implement a re-design of Emery
Park. Design competition possibilities, design costs, construction
costs, program writing, fund raising, were a few of the topics
John and Tom will try to come up with some rough design and
construction costs
8 Via phone to John Frey, John Vinton asked that his position on the
sign bylaw study subcommittee be reassigned to Rick Bechtel, since John
will not have enough time in the near future to work on it No action
was taken on this since Rick is on vacation.
( Meeting ended at about 10 25 PM
NEXT MEETING Tuesday, September 11, 1990 at 8 PM, Room 111
Respectfully Submitted John Frey
