Lowell and Woburn Sts. plan by assistant to Dale was discussed, An elm tree has been put in. The committee felt that more study was needed. It is desirable to bring the neighborhood In to speak to their needs or wishes. 3 It was observed that Wilson Farm has begun the planting of their two islands. We are grateful for their stewardship. There was mention of town planting perhaps varying the color of their azaleas with other colors than magenta. This color may be the result of an economy? 4 Berman s had reacted favorably to the idea of street tree planting in front of their store. It was remembered that the Planning Board had asked Lexington Toyota, at an LCC/DAC meeting, to place some trees at the street side of the expansion, 5.Emery Park:We would like to see something happening here. The David Dixon Guidelines have suggested sidewalks on all sides with access at corners. Dale Gaasland has mentioned some funds from the private sector being available. Action The committee suggests that there be a town-wide Idea Quest' for Emery Park, This would invite all facets of the community and school children to "brainstorm their ideas. Plans and visual presentations annotated, would be expected. There would be no winner' everyone would be a winner It might help to have the community look at Emery Park in a new fashion. 6.Action .John will speak with Rick White about the trash container letter 7 We spoke to Jacquie Smith (as she walked by) about her suggestion, at the time of the Lions' memorial that she put together guidelines as to what may or may not happen when a memorial is offered. She will get back to us on that. Plan was shown. Action.• John to ask Rick if this may go forward. John will remind Dale of base map, DAC suggests trees 3' - 3 1/2' diameter since they are so vulnerable with the amount of foot traffic on this street. Tree pit needs to be 2' deep and a minimum of 100 cubic feet of good quality planting soil including humus, Underground utilities will of course be investigated before planting. It was felt that it was more important to have the trees by Shawmut be larger even If it meant not being able to do all of the Muzzey St, planting recommended. 10. Sonoco Station: II II Bob Ossman's plan to be presented to BOA was discussed. The Committee finds this plan attractive, Could the patchwork of asphalt be replaced with concrete for aesthetic and functional reasons? 11 Action: Bob Ossman will develop an outline of landscape maintenance guidelines. 12.
