Approximately 20 members from the community were in attendance. Susan Rockwell,committee chairperson,provided an overview for the evening and introduced members present. The planned web site—www.Lexineton300.us was reviewed by designer Harry Forsdick. Jessie Steigerwald outlined the formal activities planned;Jane Hundley outlined planned school programs funded through the Lexington Education Foundation. Richard Kollen reviewed plans for the High School's Advanced Placement History classes. Jessie Steigerwald and Tanya Morrisett reviewed plans for the fashion show and Incorporation Weekend. Plans for the 2013 Patriot's Day Parade were briefly reviewed,including mention of the plan to change the parade time from Monday afternoon to the Sunday afternoon prior to Patriot's Day A 300th Anniversary float is to be championed by Beverly Kelly The Tourism Committee plans to sponsor May 2013 Revolutionary Revelry again in May 2013 Eric Carlson reviewed plans for MONUMENT/Clock,TIME CAPSULE,and 300th Anniversary Banners Jessie Steigerwald reviewed closing ceremony plans,possible musical presentation,video review of the 9 months celebration, and `coordinating event' and`supporting event' classifications. Sue Rockwell outlined the need for the Lexington 300th Anniversary Celebration Committee to confirm proposals with participating community groups. Open Discussion&Public Participant Reporting: 1. Lexington Arts&Crafts Society—participation of its 3 guilds/fiber arts 2. Lexington Historical Society—Susan Bennett— • Exhibit of Signs—illustrates the history of the town over the years—to be March 2013 at the Depot;also to have historical publications on sale during the month • Diversity of Community—a series of portrait panels of all walks of life;the story of their Lexington experience— exhibited town-wide(banks,town hall,etc.) • Publication—of Larry Whipple's historical work • Possible publication specifically for the Lexington 300th celebration 3 Daughters of the American Revolution—Shirley Lane&Muffle Martin—Colonial Costumes&Saturday genealogical workshops in February 2013 4 Lexington Symphony—General Manager—Vanessa—Commissioned young composer from New Hampshire's Walden School,also a more established composer to write a piece. Planning a concert for Patriot's Day Weekend, closing ceremony collaboration—John Tarr,Composer 5. Lexington Greenway's Corridor Committee—Rick Abrams o Recreation areas, conservation land,to print a piece with a sample of walks,runs,bike routes linking different areas o Events during the year, Stewart Kennedy—bicycle rides, linking some historic areas, long walks,hikes,etc. 6. Cary Library—internal committee reviewing submissions_by May 2012 for use of facility&speakers.
