Lexington 300th Committee & Subcommittee members present:

EVENTS CALENDAR REVIEW—(HANDOUT DATED SEPTEMBER 21,2011)Jessie Steigerwald
reviewed tentative calendar for opening weekend,fashion show, opening ceremony Incorporation
Weekend
Opening Weekend—family activities,hopes to involve Minuteman National Historical Park
Fashion Show—Tanya Morrisett, Coordinator—Fashion show is fundraiser,sewers are sought
Opening Ceremony—to include various ethnic groups, including Indian Community
Incorporation Weekend—Betty Gau,Coordinator
Technology in Lexington—Shelby Kashket,Coordinator identified individuals/groups to which
outreach should be made: Alan Earles,Lincoln Labs, Cubist Pharmaceuticals. Lexington
Historical Society has agreed to look into early technology. Corporate sponsorships should be sought
The 300th celebration should also have:
• Cary Lecture Series plan their speakers/programs for the celebration
• Lexington Community Education speaker topics of relevance
March 16,2013 events: Evening Dance, Multi-cultural dance,venue—preferred LHS gymnasium
Use `dance cards'
Closing Ceremonies—Margaret Counts-Klebe, Coordinator
• Olde-time baseball—Rick DeAngelis—Blue Sox vs. another(Braintree White Sox?)
• Steve Buckley(Cambridge)—Olde Time Baseball
• Food—Lions Club food trailer?
• 300th Anniversary T-shirt at the game, pass the hat for fundraising
• Sponsorships?
• Fireworks or Laser show—Sunday evening after the Baseball games
Van Seasholes—asked how scheduling conflicts can be minimized and charges/free-of-charge
programs can be handled consistently
Other events:
Trivia Bee,Pops Corus
Lexington Farms—tentative thoughts are for a bus tour the first day—possibly to current farming sites
and historical farm sites and possibly using the Liberty Ride. Farming supporters are also considering
a panel discussion for Incorporation Weekend.
Patriots Day—Beverly Kelly to chair the 300th Anniversary float
Lexington Field&Garden Club to have a float
Web Site—many photos sought, an email to be sent for Lexington photos
Theme—Theme options were discussed and explained once the main committee votes the theme it
will be publicized.
Lexington Public Schools—Jane Hundley explained the public schools are developing lesson plans
as part of their Lexington Education Foundation sponsored grant.
Tourism Committee Dawn McKenna explained the Committee had voted that within the Liberty
Ride tours it will conduct tours in the off-season(October 2012-April 2013) Mrs.McKenna also
indicated the-plans_of the Tourism_Committee to again sponsor the-Revolutionary=Rev elry' for May
2013 and seeks to work closely with the Lexington 300t Committee on publicity
